NFL Draft AB's 2023 draft class at the 1.5 year mark

They/we say it takes about three years to really judge a draft class. So, here half way through that timeline ...

  • Round 3, No. 74 | Cedric Tillman, Tennessee, WR - producing. I'm not sure he's a WR1, as I've not seen him win contested catches enough, but he's starter material at minimum.
  • Round 3, No. 98 | Siaki Ika, Baylor, DT - done, done. I'm not sure any of us loved this pick at the time (other than the traditional draft day glass half full stuff). Supposed to be a clogger with some pressure ability. Just got shoved around.
  • Round 4, No. 111 | Dawand Jones, Ohio State, OT - at minimum, he's serviceable. When his weight is down, he's pretty good.
  • Round 4, No 126 | Isaiah McGuire, Missouri, DE - might be the gem of the class. Tons of draftnicks liked him. Young, high RAS, performing.
  • Round 5, No. 140 | Dorian Thompson-Robinson, UCLA, QB - mayyyyybe QB2
  • Round 5, No. 142 | Cam Mitchell, Northwestern, CB - I feel this is the reason the Newsome rumors wouldn't die. Kid is playing well, and always active on gameday
  • Round 6, No. 190 | Luke Wypler, Ohio State, C - still hope, but the injury limited this year's assessment. High PFF grades in his rookie year, preseason

And for anyone who says Dorsey was better, he hit on two players in his last two drafts (Chubb & Ward).

When he had no 1st rounder in 2019 (because he traded for OBJ), he totally whiffed, other than Taki, who did develop for us late, but is currently being outgraded by nearly every Browns linebacker)

You can't build if you fire everyone every 2 years. AB is learning. If we fire him, he'll go back to Philadelphia, probably get another GM job in a few years, and mention Cleveland as an educational experience. Like Belichick. We'll remain losers, he'll get a Super Bowl.

Don't fire your own people. If you ever want to grow.

Yeah must suck being "saddled" with 2 firsts and 2 seconds by a freakin baseball guy.

I bet Dorsey drafted Ward and Chubb, but DePodesta pulled a GrandSlam baseball power move and insisted on drafting all the other scrubs. And Haslam chose Mayfield, for sure. It's true fact.

Ah snarky insults. Is that you Shep?

It's well known and understood Dorsey went against the will of the all powerful part time pencil pusher who lives in California, which is why he was fired.

According to Haslam we are organizationally correct with this current FO and staff. There is something to be said for that.

It seems like this team took some tough losses early and KS couldn't get them at their best for lesser teams they should've beat. I'm not sure but it seems related to Watson, Andy Dickerson, a new OC and allegedly a new offense.

Our situation needs more time to evaluate properly.

Tomlin wins in the regular season but not in the playoffs. Much like Fratello did for some bad Cavs teams.

The formula generally speaking is this:
Play excellent defense and the offense just has to compete and win a few times in a game to get W's.

It doesn't hold up in the playoffs when our/your offense will need to beat the opponent several times to win.
