Football Gameplan's 2014 Inside the War Room - Cleveland Browns

Carr isn't going to last until #35. By that pick, I think we're looking at guys like Garrapolo, Mettenberger etc being the only ones available. So I think we need to grab a QB earlier than #35.

I do like the idea of taking KSU's Roosevelt Nix and especially Dri Archer. They'll be fan favorites and I think they can contribute too.

1. I still think Clowney goes #1 overall to Houston.

2. However, if lightening strikes and Clowney does fall to Cleveland at #4, I don't see us taking him. Let's go ahead a run with that scenario for a moment:

The scenario of the Texans taking Bortles #1 and Clowney falling to #4

1. Houston - Bortles
2. St. Louis - Watkins/Robinson
3. Jax - Manziel

4. Cleveland - Atlanta won't be able to dial the phone fast enough to get Farmer on the phone and will offer a nice deal to trade up and get Clowney. Based on the draft pick value chart, Atlanta would have to give up their #6 and their 3rd (#68). Farmer would jump on that in a NY minute.

Now, Cleveland is looking at the following picks in rounds 1,2 & 3.

1.6
1.26
2.35
3.71
3.78
3.83

In this scenario, Cleveland gets Mike Evans at #6, and can either wait to get Bridgewater at #26, or have enough ammunition to move back up into the teens to get Bridgewater if needed.

Thanks Buddy! If Manziel and Bridgewater are off the board…which QB would you feel comfortable with?

Brian Hoyer. I don't hold a great deal of hope for guys like Fales, Carr, Garoppolo ect as they would have to establish themselves in one year while competing with a veteran who proved he can be a winner. If the Browns don't target a QB in the first round I don't know if they'd even want one at all just like 2013 when the team chose to continue with Weeden/Campbell/Hoyer.

If Hoyer gets 2014 and sucks we grab someone in 2015 (Farmer apparently likes Mariota) and if Hoyer is awesome that's even better. My biggest concern in that is the middle ground, Hoyer playing average but still good enough to have the Browns picking around 14th to 20th which pushes the Browns away from the upper echelon guys.

Em diggy I must say.. very good mock.. however Im in Tune with BDU on the QB situation. Im a big JFF fan.

However if JFF and Bridgewater are gone?

I take Tahj Boyd in the 3rd or 4th.

By the way.. BIG fan of JC Copeland! GREAT PICK.. Although I think he will go earlier than round 7

Good video Em!

Carr in the second round feels like a steal, drafting him in the top 5? Not so much...

You address pretty much every need the team has. Nice justification for your picks.

The only one I was really 'ehh' on was Clowney... Do you think he could play DE in a 3-4? I think we need a disruptive force ALA JJ Watt on the line. Could he be that guy? I just think we have a congestion of pass rushers and we need someone like Mingo to take that next step in his progression and become a consistent pass rush threat as well as a versatile defender like I think he can be. I just wonder where Clowney would fit.

Great stuff though, awesome work as always Diggy!
