Browns - Hopes for 2024 | Barking Hard

Browns Hopes for 2024

sailorsam

I come in peace
things I hope happen this year

1) Deshaun Watson becomes the quarterback they paid for and Cleveland makes a deep playoff run.
could happen.

2) Russell Wilson doesn't have it anymore and the Steelers crash and burn.
here's hoping.

3) The Chiefs stumble to 9-10 wins and no SB.
thanks Andy, but you guys have overstayed your welcome.

4) the Bengals become a slightly-better-than-average team for the next few years.
I haven't seen anything to tell me they're a super team this year unless Burrows lights it up.

5) the Patriots suck.
so far so good.

6) the Ravens ram Derrick Henry behind their rebuilt o-line while Lamar and Mandrews provide enough passing to get to the AFC Championship. (but they lose to Cleveland of course.)
o-line is a question mark, as is defensive depth. 10 wins is very possible.

7) really hoping for a NEW SB champion. if not the Browns, maybe the Bills or Lions.

I think I've said it elsewhere, but I'd be wondering what the heck, if I'm a Bills fan. Had 100% OL and QB health, stumbled through the middle of the season, and still handily lost the the Chiefs in the playoffs. Made it one game further than we did, and we were on QB5, no Chubb, and cobbled together OT's. They used Dorsey as a scapegoat, but he's not the one leading the league in INT's over the last 3 years. Allen is.

The Ravens have a defense problem. They lost a ton.
The Steelers have a QB problem. Heck, all of their skilled players are meh.
The Bengals secondary is verrrry suspect. They have a safety slated to start at corner. Their IDL room is shallow.
The Browns frankly have no suspect position groups, assuming health.

I have one hope this year for the Browns. That Watson plays at a top-10 QB level. He's hanging on to top-10 QB money (for now, pre Allen, Mahomes, and Prescott new deals), so I don't think asking him to eek into the top 10 in performance is asking too much. He can even be a game manager for most games, assuming Ford runs forward.

Frankly, I'm not worried about the rest of our team, providing everyone doesn't get injured.

I try to set realistic expectations considering the circumstances. This year, like last until Chubb went down, I expect a Browns superbowl!

Only thing that scares me is the new OLine coach. That is a wait and see.

Nothing you can do about health, that’s just the way it goes. Someone goes down, reset the expectations!

assuming Ford runs forward.
Ha! Man is he frustrating! He runs like my RB on NCAA25 road to glory! Sideways and misses the wide open lanes!

An NFL "expert", for NFL.com, just pegged us at 8.7 wins. The Steelers at 8.6. The Ravens and Bengals both 10+. Mentioned how they didn't like how Watson took zero preseason snaps.

My list is concerns

1) QB
2) D-Hop’s ability to repeat last year’s pace of game winning FG’s
3) O-line without Callahan
4) The offense’s ability to click, and score a lot of points when needed. It seems like we’re starting this year out with meh hope on O.
5) Chubb’s return - it’s a completely different confidence when Chubb is in there.

  1. It's all about the QB play for me.
  2. Stefanski's offense has been more of an efficient O than a prolific offense, in the past. We'll see if it changes, but we won't know for a couple weeks.
  3. I have concern for the OLine only because Dickerson is coaching it. The starting talent is top notch.
  4. As D-Hop gets older his range will shorten but he's been pretty reliable.
  5. Stay away from injuries as much as possible. 🤞 🤞 🤞 We'll be fine!
