Browns - Jameis Winston | Page 3 | Barking Hard

Browns Jameis Winston

A very very very low bar, also compare his roster to every other Browns coach. Inherits a Superbowl caliber roster, and proceeds to do nothing with it. Granted a pass and unending praise because Browns fans are so used to rolling in dog shit.

The difference in playcalling this past week was so obvious. We had a rhythm on offense for the first time since Stefanski neutered Baker during the Covid year and turned us into a dink and dunk offense.

Also, Winston has all the tools ...except I guess the brain? I liked him in New Orleans and didn't understand why they let him go, but I didn't watch that closely. I assume it was the turnovers.

Winston is funny. He has so many goofy on-field, in-the-moment clips, it's easy to think he's just a bit of a loveable nutjob. But then you watch his postgame presser, and realize he's just an incredibly likeable dude.

I can't help but make the comparison with Flacco - the team coheres & starts winning when the player at the helm inspires confidence, and isn't an utterly creepy, aloof, quietly arrogant, thinks-he's-earned-endless-respect douche piece of shit like Deshaun Watson.

Dude, no. I, at least, am with you !! (Think Martin is too! *edit* and Nickers!)

I love how in his presser, when asked about whether the offense was 'sitting on a big game', he gives a nod to Deshaun (because he's a humble, kind, likeable dude) and says: "you could see it with Deshaun last game, 15 of 17 for 123 yards, this offense was starting to roll..."

and I laughed out loud. Talk about the low bar of what fans here expect. Deshaun Watson going 15 of 17 for 123 (one hundred and twenty three) yards is supposed to get me excited?! Supposed to make me believe he had turned a corner??

Those are Charlie Frye numbers.

But yeah, sure - Deshaun's verifiable, filmed shit-trash performance and execution is all on Stefanski.

Yeah, I mean, look - at the end of the day, I don't actually care to argue with fellow fans about what percentage of the turnaround is attributable to the change in OC vs. the change in QB. [Other than to say, the impact of the change in OC requires a loooot more speculation and guesswork than what is plainly visible on the field and on tape with the change in QB]. But that's besides the point. Yesterday's game is the first game since last December where I remembered what it feels like to enjoy Browns football. And I'm pretty sure everyone here can relate with that. So, shit, yeah, let's rejoice! Whatever happens with Deshaun happens. In the here-&-now, let's enjoy watching Dawand grow at LT, Wills find his stride at RT, Cedric blossom as a possible WR1/2, Njoku ball out, Chubb be Chubb, and hopefully the DEF as a whole continuing to find itself as a top-10 unit. & Do I think Jameis is even a medium-term option at QB? No. But he's at the helm now, and just beat the Ravens with 3 passing TD's and 330-some odd yards. What more can we ask for? LFG!!!
