NFL Draft Pick #111, Dawand Jones, OT, tOSU

Yeah, but his salary next year is insanely reasonable for an all-pro OT.
All ideas make sense at this time. He may just retire, he may come back to get the max value out of his contract, heck, let's move him to his college position of LT that made him a first round pick.

The “Jones hasn’t allowed a sack in a game since November 27, 2021” is still holding.

(TJ Watt had a sack from his side, but it was attributed to Watson, not a failed block)
I'd disagree with that assessment of the TJ sack. He also gave up a lot of pressures from TJ. Be interesting to see what the teams actual film review was

I guess if the QB leaves the pocket, then the lineman is off the hook.

But I get what you’re saying.

Yet no matter the stats, he at minimum held-up vs one of the game’s best.

I thought it was on Ford cause he went outside Thanos and Tackles are most every time going to err on the outside not inside. Glad it worked out for a win anyway.

Yeah, one thing is for sure on that play, Dawand wasn't bullrushed or beat around the edge. If someone knows the blocking scheme, at most, he made a mental error. But, I'm not sure he did. Kind of think he didn't.

PFF initial reaction:

Rookie spotlight: The only rookie to play more than two snaps for either side was Browns right tackle Dawand Jones, who continued his solid efforts as a starter after being forced into the lineup earlier in the season. He had one of his better performances as a run-blocker and was extremely good as a pass-protector, especially given the level of competition, though he was given help throughout the day.

---

I watched a fair amount of snaps of Dawand on Bosa. He also had plenty of 1-on-1 wins.

I'll re-watch and keep an eye on him.
Overall, the OLine was solid against a top defense, I thought. They're not going to win every battle against the best but they hung in there throughout the game and came out on top.
