Browns - The Watson trade was "on" Haslam | Barking Hard

Browns The Watson trade was "on" Haslam

Literally came straight here to post it.

This won't clear the air for some, because they don't want to stop seething/hating.

He said the thing. I hope he is finally done meddling in football operations. The league already has a Jerr-uh, we don't need a Jimm-uh.

Own the team. Hire guys to run the team. Get out of the way.

lol Everyone knows this was Berry and Depo's work. They convinced Haslem, and Haslem pushed them to go the extra mile to get him to Cleveland.

He is being a good boss and saying all poor decisions are on them at the end of the day. Read the entire quote he says the decision was an organization wide thing.

It was a great move that didn't work out.

One of the few things I applaud Haslem for.

I didn't see where Haslem said he was responsible for the Watson acquisition, but he did say it was an organizational decision. (paraphrasing)

It's no different than AB having to run by Jimmy if he plans on paying a QB 70 mil/year. Yeah, any owner is going to want to know that before that contract is signed.

It was very un-"lets be smart and make sure we have many draft picks and cap space".
I liked that route.
Its very Browns to then throw everything at a dubious QB.
See, even when we at the right track, make the playoffs and beat the Steelers (well, who doesnt, lol) we find ways to fuck it up.

The word is Watson had it down to 3 teams, we were out, and Haslam stepped in and told them to offer the guaranteed contract.
Also, it explains why KS and AB are so calm, and not on the hot seat.
Seems to track to me that in the end, it was a Haslam dealeo.
BUT, I do think Haslam, AB, and KS were all on the same page at the time.
