NFL Free Agency talk

I think it's relative to the strengths of this draft and whether or not we have a shot at getting either a damn good DT, LB or WR in the 2nd round. Maybe we can re-sign a guy like Taven Bryan or Winovich for a reasonable price as insurance to a bigger name and if we can redo some of the higher contracts already here, we can create a little more cap space flexibility.

Reggie Ragland might be a LB to sign to a one year deal. At least he can stand up and wrap up RB's.

I'd rather re-sign Taven Bryan than Matt Ioannidis.

If true Schwartz would've had to give his approval to let go of JOK and Anthony Schwartz played his way off the team. I don't like getting rid of JOK since he's coming off an injury and an average 2nd season. His value right now is as low as it's ever been.

re JOK, that makes no sense at all. Freakishly athletic, cerebral, humble, coachable linebacker with two years left on his rookie deal.

Something tells me there's no trade block for the defense until Schwartz gets in the building, reviews the roster, and gives his opinion on current roster and needs.

Never heard of Jason Dalley and never will.

The name Anthony Schwartz hardly rings a Bell. If he nets a 5th (spoiler alert: not a chance), Berry would take it in a heartbeat. Hell, we might be able to use it to trade for DeAndre Hopkins 🤣🤣

wait,we want to trade our best LB? people you have to understand, this D has been hogtied.
we haven't even seen what JOK can do yet or MG for that matter.woods did not have a clue.nada.
I dont think you guys get how confused and ineffective woods scheme really was.

all this negative talk about JJ3?hes one of the leagues best FS's.If the scheme is bad guess who always
looks bad too?the single deep safety.I dont hate the idea of moving JOK to SS and moving delpit to FS
but our front 7 need JOK quite badly and If we can start effectively blitzing?he'll be the guy who gets home.jimmy also runs lots of 2 deep so we need great not good coverage from the SS.
all these players have looked terrible under JW.all that sh^t is over with.
we can win football games running and playing great D in this division.we dont need HOF QB play.
give these players another shot, they haven't had a fair go of it yet.there is greatness here.

we really need to work hard in FA and get help for our DT's.the draft cupboard is going to be bare.

I'm not advocating these hypothetical trades. Particularly JOK. It's up to Schwartz and I don't see JOK going anywhere for all the reasons listed above.

Schwartz will likely make the final determinations on the defensive side after he evaluates all the players and collaborates with the staff and FO over who he likes more and who he thinks he can part ways with. I'm guessing he wants a higher end DT. He just might be ok with Taven Bryan and Perrion Winfrey. Winfrey for sure since he just finished his rookie season as well as DE Wright for the same reason.

We got enough CB's. It's the one spot we don't need to add to and since Greedy Williams is pretty much gone I expect to hear him trash the organization in the coming weeks.

I wonder what Schwartz thinks of Takitaki. A bigger LB that played pretty well when he got the chance, is a ST's contributor and from all accounts a good locker room guy.

And the staff and FO didn't fire Woods on the spot?

This is not good. Not good then and not good going forward. KS better work the veterans starting day one in camp and no more club med pre season. I just heard on the radio this morning that Wills was lazy all throughout camp last year at one point saying the NFL camp was easier than college.

I believe him. 2023 Camp soft asses here we come.

NFL camp being easier than college practice camp is not a Browns thing. College still has two a days and hitting. NFL/nflpa CBA has restrictions on practices, pads, hitting, etc.

I doubt we can afford DT Deron Payne, but he'd be exactly what we need on D.

With restructuring, we can afford him. However, 1) Washington will probably franchise tag him 2)Do you overpay to the point that it hinders other potential FA signings?

You absolutely kick the tires on Cox (history with Schwartz) and Hargrave. Rankins, Nnadi and Tillery are probably worth a kick of the tires as well.

If you can pull of Cox or Hargrave and draft a DT in round 2...we are in business.

Guys I look at in Round 2 of the draft:

Newton (Illinois)
Coburn (Texas)
Ojomo (Texas)
Smith (Michigan)
Ika (Baylor)

You give me Cox and Smith going into next year and I feel alot better about our DL.

If you can pull of Cox
You give me Cox
this is a crying shame.terrible class of DT this year, even the top 2nd rd guys are sub par
I am pickin up what you're puttin down but I think we stick with winfrey and a FA veteran (suh?)
DT is a position where rookies generally dont shine and are lucky to start (unless top 10)
we should have invested in the deep classes at DT in 2019 and 2020.2019 was a rare deep DE year too.
we wouldnt be in this ridiculous position of being forced to pick by pure need.
this is not good GM work Im afraid.terrible.I'm hoping jimmy can improve the draft picks we make on D.
meanwhile we have a strong LB/WR/S class in the early-mid rounds this draft.

This might be good reason to re-sign Taven Bryan. He was solid. Inconsistent but mostly solid. Maybe Schwartz can get him more out of him? Same for Winovich.
