Investigating the Investigators or taking down the Deep State

For the record, the William Barr and John Durham statement about the Horowitz Report were as follows:

John Durham:

I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff. However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department. Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S. Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report's conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened.

William Barr:

Nothing is more important than the credibility and integrity of the FBI and the Department of Justice. That is why we must hold our investigators and prosecutors to the highest ethical and professional standards. The Inspector General’s investigation has provided critical transparency and accountability, and his work is a credit to the Department of Justice. I would like to thank the Inspector General and his team.

The Inspector General’s report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken. It is also clear that, from its inception, the evidence produced by the investigation was consistently exculpatory. Nevertheless, the investigation and surveillance was pushed forward for the duration of the campaign and deep into President Trump’s administration. In the rush to obtain and maintain FISA surveillance of Trump campaign associates, FBI officials misled the FISA court, omitted critical exculpatory facts from their filings, and suppressed or ignored information negating the reliability of their principal source. The Inspector General found the explanations given for these actions unsatisfactory. While most of the misconduct identified by the Inspector General was committed in 2016 and 2017 by a small group of now-former FBI officials, the malfeasance and misfeasance detailed in the Inspector General’s report reflects a clear abuse of the FISA process.

FISA is an essential tool for the protection of the safety of the American people. The Department of Justice and the FBI are committed to taking whatever steps are necessary to rectify the abuses that occurred and to ensure the integrity of the FISA process going forward.

No one is more dismayed about the handling of these FISA applications than Director Wray. I have full confidence in Director Wray and his team at the FBI, as well as the thousands of dedicated line agents who work tirelessly to protect our country. I thank the Director for the comprehensive set of proposed reforms he is announcing today, and I look forward to working with him to implement these and any other appropriate measures.

With respect to DOJ personnel discussed in the report, the Department will follow all appropriate processes and procedures, including as to any potential disciplinary action.

Comey was appointed head of the FBI
and was well qualified for the job,Carter page got the ball rolling on Russia in 2013 because he was compromised by Russian
Intelligence and considered a person of interest.

Sorry, Dan, the Horowitz Report indicates otherwise. According to the Horowitz Report, Carter Page was working with the CIA and the FBI investigators actually modified an email to indicate that he was working with the Russians instead to help justify a FISA court warrant to wiretap Page.

wiki leaks Asange gucifer,Roger Stone and pushing the Hillary narrative
followed because it was election season and like everything else we can’t wait for
the October surprise so it got ugly way earlier.than usual.
Comey was fired first not following the presidents game and McCabe was a Comey lackey so he had to go till he found his yes man just like Barr and Pompeo.

Here you are throwing some mud on the wall to see if it sticks.

That is authority unchecked and when the bill came due Trump had his yes men in place along with Giuliani.
The whole Ukraine thing is our president doing what he always does, looks for leverage kinda like the national enquirer and Pecker is spilling the beans as we talk.

More mud. Again, we will see if it sticks.

Comey as well as McCabe were ridiculed
and humiliated by the president on national TV and both threatened with jail!
I don’t know how you would take that kind of smear campaign but I would go on every channel that would have me.
The sad thing is all that were mentioned including Mueller were conservative Republicans and the President isn’t.
This so called “deep state”are government employees that are selected and serve the president who selects them.theres no hidden agenda in the work they do,they protect our nations interests around the
world.

Again, I think you are wrong. The Horowitz Report is illuminating. My guess is that a future Durham Report will be even more illuminating.

The “MSM” aren’t political there professional journalist who look for a story
on wherever the breadcrumbs lead them,
Regardless of party,I can’t speak for every single journalist but for them it’s story before party, that’s there livelihoods.
These conspiracy theories are nothing more than deflection.

The principal conspiracy theory in this case was the Russian Collusion hoax.

Last point I want to make is the idea that all actors are liberal assholes so I won’t watch there programs and movies is just
plain ignorance.
If it’s not republican or goes against my politics I just won’t watch it?
I read a lot of books and I like biographies
and some of the ones I’ve read have come
from movies I have watched.taking Hollywood out of the story and reading the the book to get the real story.
I have stated before and it’s true I watch Fox News because it’s important for me to
understand both sides.
Reasoning and common sense are much
better than blind allegiance to any party or
Idea.

I agree that reasoning and common sense are better than blind allegiance to any party or idea.

Comey was appointed head of the FBI
and was well qualified for the job
By their standards true I guess.

Yet in the office the worse since Hoover. he interfered more in our elections than anyone in history that I know of. if there was a Russian plant point that way. they could not of wished for more, what a disrupter. he played no favorites he was playing with Hillary & Trump.

Ignorance is what they specialize in..lol not to mention the outcomes they hope for.

First read that above again.
Have you missed the past 3 years ?
For the 8 years previously they treat Obama like royalty over half the time. even Fox has changed the past 3 years. they don't beat up on Obama 22 hours a day. lol

This so called “deep state”are government employees that are selected and serve the president who selects them.there's no hidden agenda in the work they do,they protect our nation's interests around the world.
Do you work for the Gov ?
What you have there is pretty broad statement. while also saying
all that were mentioned including Mueller were conservative Republicans and the President isn’t.
Now that I agree. so where in hell can Trump find his Own People from the lot in DC

Bill Barr has been trying his hardest
To find wrongdoings in the 2016 election.
He can’t find shit because it’s all a joke
Created by the clown in charge.

Oh having a post dissected and ridiculed

You a Christmas card!

First, here is your Christmas card:

So I say, Merry Christmas, Dan. May all your Christmas dreams come true (except one, of course) :)

As for Barr's efforts at finding wrongdoing, in my view, he really doesn't have to look much further that the Horowitz Report.

Being retired, I had the luxury of remaining home and watching the hearings today, and it appears to me that the narrative that there is significant distance between Barr and Horowitz is a fiction. At most, there are a few distinctions without a significant difference such as the terms they each have used in describing the nature of some of the activities exercised by the FBI.

The main difference between what Barr and Horowitz is saying has to do with terminology. For example, what Horowitz calls surveillance, Barr calls spying. I consider this to be a distinction without a difference. I mean, what is spying if it isn't surveillance and what is surveillance if it isn't spying? Can you explain the difference?

There does appear to be a technical difference between a predicate that is justified on the basis of a low bar and a predicate that is inadequate in one's view to be justified. But that also is more a distinction than a difference.

If there is any significant distinction (with or without a difference) otherwise, I have failed to see it. Perhaps you can enlighten me.

Nice card Cliff, thanks! if I was an alcoholic it would be fantastic!
Barr has tried so hard and failed but it does prove how great
Presidential powers can be and why they need checked, our
forefathers were geniuses and had the ability to see what could
happen if an elected official ran amuck with his power.

I think democrats have screwed up there impeachment, not because
our president is innocent but there letting him off the hook for his
obstruction of the entire investigation, testimony, files, evidence
and whatever else would have bolstered the case.
Just because a lawyer can come up with a good argument doesn’t
make him right, it’s called doing his job, unlike Guiliani.
I’m not going to give an opinion everyday, it’s kinda pointless
Let the process come to its conclusion, then we can argue the outcome.

Honestly, because this is public you are going to defend your guy I get that.
Where do we draw the line in the future?
Hypothetically if Biden were to win, would we immediately begin investigating
Burisma and Hunter all over again?
If that is the direction why should he even be allowed to run?

Man up for the job your elected to do, not what you want to
do and hold yourself accountable to the people and country.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Spying

Spying is a Hot word in DC.

Michael Horowitz could not say it or even answer a question using the word, it just made him uncomfortable. to say the least. for a Obama appointee he did a good job. yet when asked if there was blood he says body fluid. how he doesn't see the bias is a bit much.

This report makes me ask.... What was it Mueller was investigating ? he had to of ran into this or did his helpers keep it out of his "Purview".. what a joke.

Thanks for the CBSN video, Mad. There is an interesting juxtaposition of terms about a third way in in the video: while Horowitz is detailing deception after deception in the video, there is a banner at the bottom insisting: "No Evidence of Intentional Misconduct in Russia Probe."

My guess is that Barr made a mistake when he originally used the word spy in his testimony before the Congress. I think it was probably unintentional and he intended to use the word surveillance which is the polite word to use when describing spying by our government. Spying, of course, is what we accuse other governments of doing. However, having once used it, he has chosen to continue using it. He could have walked it back by using both terms together for a while ("surveillance or spying--it's the same thing"), before getting back to the polite term.

The deal with Christopher Wray is interesting. Either he is truly a deep state actor as suggested by Trump, or he is an especially astute politician who is saying all the right words the media wants to hear and making his department immune from partisan attack from the Democrats and media while transforming it into the professional non-partisan entity that we all want it to be as suggested by Barr.

These are Strange days

There is lots of video from yesterday. much edited for THEIR wanted content. the intent of doing so should be clear to a fifth grader with youtube.
no apologies or heads rolling in the media world. no one of integrity in charge.

In a twist.. what if they(gov guys) just wanted this dirt to be true, keep it to themselves and use in a old school way like Hoover did. or they just thought they had so much power they could out last Trump. they would have any other POTUS I've seen. non stop pressure from day 1.

Historical

After hearing Comey Sunday
#1 He needs to STFU
IF you look over his talking since he got fired. he lies a lot.or misremembers.

Will the Durham trial(s) be televised ?
these could be the most historical Gov wise in our lifetimes. could they break the OJ ratings ?
or will these people end up copping pleas ?
