Browns Deshaun Watson - Football Talk

I take that with a grain of salt since reports after were that the all parties, including coaches felt he would not be able to effectively play. Berry also touched on it in his media session. According to Terry Pluto it lined up with what his sources tell him (and he wrote about a day or two earlier). And considering the injuries Watson has played through, including a game while having a torn ACL (slapped knee brace on and rolled) I think it's far more likely he either owned that he would not be any good with his throwing shoulder (something like couldn't push the ball more than ten yards when they warmed him up, or he wanted to play but didn't fight the coaches when they said he don't play.

I suspect the truth here is simply players were frustrated that they had to go out there without Watson against a division foe. They knew they weren't winning with DTR.

On Monday, Stefanski said the decision was made solely by Watson, and that he had been medically cleared by the Browns’ training staff.
Above is under the bus imo. he should of covered and said it was a team decision.
Stefanski wrote his ticket out of town most likely here.

Yep if this is how poorly Stefanski communicates it answers lots of questions. later
I'd be careful on assumption comparing between communication with press and communication with in the confines of the building/locker room.

Of course though bad communication to the press can potentially create issues with some players

Why is he trying to run over people? Who does he think he is, RG3? Get Down!

Why isn't Watson talking to the media? I thought he was the leader of this team.

Perhaps Stefanski and company learned a lesson with Baker playing hurt and they're being smart, for once.

Who knows?

Watch the clip when Watson, AB Stefanski and I think AVP were checking him out throwing and Watson tells him he can't play. KS pats him on the shoulder and curtly walks away. Didn't even wait for AB or anybody else to hear their BS interpretation of what just happened. He's like GTFO! I gotta let the fucking rookie DTR know ASAP he's starting. Everybody can GTFO of my way.

I couldn't find a link.

He should be getting down. I am pretty sure even for those plays the staff tells Watson to get down once he has yards. Of course hard to take that competitor out of a player

Why would Watson be talking to the media? Injured players rarely talk to the media, including the QB. Team leader doesn't necessarily mean having to talk to the press, especially if you might not or will not play.

Reports are that Watson couldn't drive the ball 10 yards or something close to that. Him and Baker injury are different. Baker non throwing shoulder. Watson throwing shoulder.

Too much being made of the medically cleared. I don't think people know what that actually means. That basically just means the doctors do not believe the player will make the injury worse. The doctors don't determine that with the injury the player can actually do all the things they ne d to be able to do on the field.

If CLE hadn't given up what they did for Watson, including the contract, plus his off the field this would be a non story other than a QB with an injured throwing shoulder. Heck, if he didn't have the off the field it might not be a story either.
