I got to have another surgery on my left hand and it's made playing very painful. I thought it would get fixed but I got a staff infection and it really made it worse. I'm just glad I can strum a few chords right now. Hopefully this next surgery fixes all of it but at this point I just want normal function and anything beyond that is a bonus. I keep dropping things like a gallon of milk just a couple days ago.
I was so pissed.
My wife had to calm me down saying it's only spilled milk, which pissed me off even more. That shit's expensive these days.
Anyway, I saw a really cool bluegrass style (Rick Beato video) featuring Billy Strings that I love. I've told my friends years ago I was listening to bluegrass lately on account it's similar to metal in its intensity, but not nearly the flash and often is played unplugged. It's stuff I had not heard of until then and thought it was really well done. They weren't as impressed but they don't know what they're listening too.
If you go to 57:15 you'll see how he stays relaxed while playing!
I grew up on Chet and Merle.. So Flatpickin came pretty easy for me... Glenn Campbell was a badass too! Hell of a session guitarist with the Wrecking Crew out in LA with Capitol Records.. Jerry Reed was another... Lost of great country players... Checkout Andy Wood... His picking technique is amazing.. As is Johnny Hyland.. He's all around great... Rick does the best interviews... He just lets the artist spill their guts out... Nothing looks staged... I'm thinking of putting a podcast together because I know so many great players in this town who don't get enough love IMHO... So Id love to put a Youtube Channel together dedicated to Cleveland Musicians and other notable figures... And maybe branchout into the entire state... We'll see how things go...
