According to Adam Shefter:

Stevie Johnson signed a five-year, $36.25 million deal that includes $19.5 million gtd and over $24 million in deal's first three years.

Arian Foster's new deal with Houston is for five years. Bet Ray Rice and Matt Forte are real curious about the numbers on it. Details to follow on the exact numbers.

The Johnson signing gives us an idea what it will cost to bring in a top WR in FA. I would love the Browns to have a great multi-purpose back like Rice or Forte but their costs will be very high. I'm betting the Bears screw over Forte by giving him the franchise tag and the Ratbirds may do the same to Rice.

Could be a good free agent move to match with a draft pick.. That way we would have some depth too.

Redskins sound ready to break bank for Vincent Jackson

God it would be nice to have an owner like Dan Snyder. Yah, he's a moron blah blah blah blah blah ...he went out and did what needed to be done to get a franchise QB, and now it looks like a #1 WR. Many Browns fans would give 10 years of their lives for the Browns to do those 2 things.

really......................................................

The team that signs the biggest FA busts every year................... Ya know there is a hard cap so breaking the bank really is just a myth. But, I love your passion knowing that every and any rumor, true or not, gives you a bigger hard on for the Browns.

That said, you give your next 10 years and we'll see how that works out for you.

In the 13 years Dan Snyder has owened the Redskins their record has been 91-117. They've won ONE divison title, and been to the playoffs 3 times and won a total of 2 playoff games.

YEEHAW SIGN ME UP FOR 10 YEARS OF THAT!!!!!

But I am sure THIS TIME, it will be different for him.

Stephen Tulloch is who the Browns should go after! IMHO

or David Hawthorne as Plan B

Then some reasonable lower option WR fits; Robert Meachum, Pierre Garcon and Early Doucet. John Carlson might be a good TE fit especially since Watson is such a question mark.

I'd love Michael Bush but how about Mike Tolbert also.

I like all those suggestion...Especially Hawthorne, Meachum & Carlson

So am I. What's our record been over the past 10 years?
Not much different. But I am not the one who said I wish I had an owner like Dan Snyder.

And It won't be different. Oh yeah, Vincent Jackson? Nope not going to go there. Danny boy got his hand caught in the cookie jar and is losing 36 million in cap space over the next two years. Combine that with all the draft picks he just gave up and RGIII will be throwing to the Brian Robiskies of the NFL for the next 3 years.

You could be right ...but if you were a betting man, and you placed a bet that the Browns would reach the Superbowl before the Redskins next do ..I'd have to laugh at you. I don't think the 36 million spread out over 2 years hurts them as much as people are making out ...I'm sure it'll prevent them from signing a couple of free agents, but Washington will be fine. They've got a stud at the most important position in football, a great head coach, and a owner willing to do what it takes to bring in great players.

Losing the cap space & picks will have a significant impact, but Mike Shanahan's shown an uncanny knack for knowing which guys fit his offensive system. As a result, he won't necessarily need first round picks to find solid surrounding talent for RG3. Just look at the talent he collected in two drafts ('06 & '08) in Denver:
- Jay Cutler ('06, 1st round) -- Shanny's RG3 in Denver
- Tony Scheffler ('06, 2nd round) -- a solid receiving tight end
- Brandon Marshall ('06, 4th round) -- a veritable beast
- Chris Kuper ('06, 5th round) -- a starting guard in Denver
- Ryan Clady ('08, 1st round) -- franchise LT, something the Redskins hope Trent Williams will become
- Eddie Royal ('08, 2nd round) -- 91 catches as a rookie under Shanny
- Kory Lichtensteiger ('08, 4th round) -- a starter in Washington
- Ryan Torain ('08, 5th round) -- very good when healthy
- Peyton Hillis ('08, 7th round) -- has done some good things in Cleveland
That's pretty much an entire high-powered offense.

I see two 1st rounders in your list and 2 second rounders. Picks he won't have for a year ot two. So the only real standout name above that is a low round pick and a stud is Marshall. A head case who has bounced from team to team now.

I haven't seen Shanahan have real sucess once Elway retired. Maybe RGIII will be his new Elway. But all I am saying is wishing for a owner like Dan Snyder is a little crazy.

Glazer: Dolphins trade Brandon Marshall to Bears Posted by Mike Florio on March 13, 2012, 3:59 PM EDT
Getty ImagesAnd we’re off. In a major way.

The new league year is open, and the Dolphins have fired the first shot. Jay Glazer of FOX reports that they have traded receiver Brandon Marshall to the Bears for a 2012 third-round pick and a 2013 third-round pick.

The move reunites Marshall with quarterback Jay Cutler. The spent three years together in Denver.
Also in Chicago is quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates, who worked with Cutler and Marshall in Denver.

It also clears Marshall out of Miami, in advance of the potential arrival of Peyton Manning, whom some believed had misgivings about playing with Marshall.

So it’s sort of like reverse-Peyton bait.

The Dolphins gave up two second-round picks to get Marshall in 2010. He has five straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons, and he was the MVP of the 2012 Pro Bowl, with four touchdown receptions.

Really Tom? We couldn't have tossed them a couple 3rds for a 27 year old beast? Really? We don't need no stinkin' WR's....
