NFL Draft The number 2 overall pick

Problem with any trade for McCarty talk is MIN has zero reason to trade him, unless they don't believe he can actually be the guy.

First at the end of the day only MIN knows how much is real and how much is smoke and mirrors with Darnold this year. For the sake of discussion we'll just go with it's mostly real. It is still only one year of production. Investing the going QB contract price is not something you do with so much bad production vs one excellent year of production.

Lets say you could sign him at the going rate, but on a 3-4 year that allows you to get out of it after 2 or 3 years. You got rid of the guy you believe can be that guy for a draft pick. You're right back where you were, but actually worse off.

MIN can franchise Darnold, see if it was a one year wonder or if he truly is the long term answer. With JJ on the roster you get more time to evaluate him (double check you're belief he can be the guy) and if Darnold was a one year wonder you have JJ.

Darnold really has become the guy you lock him up after 2025, and then you move JJ.
He surely wouldn't be cheap.

So, if I'm the Cowboys (and 82 year-old Jerry Jones), I'd trade up to get Sanders and then offer Dak + picks to the Browns and draft Hunter too.

Or,

Ring ring ….

AB picks up the phone: “Hi Jerry, you want Hunter? Give us Dak & Micah and we’re good. Say it with me Jerry. You get Sanders and Hunter”

Seems like most mocks have Ward going 1st overall, but, if he's doesn't, are we pretty darn compelled to take him?
If Berry is still QB shopping for a carbon copy of Lamar then I'd say yes.
There are a no. of factors:
Watson's presence or absence.
Do the Browns feel Watson is the ball and chain that prevents selecting a QB at 2 overall?
Will Ward present well if he visits the Browns before the draft? Will they give him some X and O problems on a white board?
Would Tommy Rees the new OC have any say in the matter?

If he does show up on the list of players that are visiting the browns then CLE is at least doing their due diligence.
The Titans currently have Levis on a rookie contract and Rudolph previously with the Steewuzz.
If I had to bet a wooden nickle I guess Ward will start his NFL career in a Titans helmet.
