Browns The salary cap thread

Tough decisions all the way around.

A case could be made for re-signing or extending all of those guys.

I think JOK is vital and A Walk is the team leader on D. But Takitaki is balling too, and I think we need to update Cooper and Hopkins.
AB is closer to the team, so I guess we have to trust him on these decisions.

We will be losing some good players. It can't be avoided.

The estimates are it'll take 10-12 mil to keep Za'Darious. With the new Delpit deal, a JOK extension has been placed into a financially difficult position.

Soooo, if it comes down to JOK vs ZDS, who ya got? Assuming AB wants to get JOK inked now instead of at the end of 2024.

Edge room: Both here until January of 2026, Obo has been great, and 23 yr-old Alex Wright seems to be settling in
LB room: A-Walk's deal is only a 1-year. Takitaki is at the end of his rookie deal.

Thoughts?
I think we have to keep JOK at all cost. He's a missile out there and has really grown since his rookie year. I appreciate what ZDS has done so far across from Myles but I feel like Obo can fill that role as well.

Agree w all

JOK - you gotta keep him. A home grown draft steal
Taki - Dorsey got good value here, so if Schwartz votes yes, so do I/we
A-Walk - tons of bang for the buck. A keeper. He won't cost a lot. HUGE in the locker room.

ZDS - I'd like to keep him, but it'll have to be a somewhat team friendly deal (signing bonus, backloaded, etc etc)
Mo Hurst - get him back here, but he's no secret now. Might be able to with his rough football history.
Shelby Harris - keep him too if we can. Might be able to since he's older.

Of all those names, I think ZDS is the most questionable to return.

Last Feb, I was getting a text from my fake-Browns fans friends, who are anti-Watson, sighting national NFL articles that the Browns are in cap hell. Watson contract to blame of course. I told them it's all poorly researched bullshit. They countered with the old "your smarter than the national narrative huh".

I said, yeeeeUP. We all here know how AB is working, and how Haslam has put the money where his mouth is.

Unless we get the top pick in the draft it'll be tough getting a guy like MG.

But we could get two very good DE's that can wreak havoc together. The rebuild will suck but maybe we'll have a shiny new stadium to watch piss poor football in!

Isn't a Conklin cut expensive for us? Maybe she means a trade.

I prefer Over the cap as they let you see pre and post June.

Jack Conklin Contract Details, Salary Cap Charges, Bonus Money, and Contract History | Over The Cap

if they cut or trade him post June it is far less dead money as well as potential cap savings.
