Browns The salary cap thread

You should.
Journalists are just click and bait whores nowadays and sports journalists are the cheap sidewalk versions of them.
Far be it for me to defend sports media, but the reality is they serve up what the public will/wants to consume. The same public who doesn't read/comprehend the words and context of something sport media provides, even if in 128 characters. So the public has as much blame if not more than the sports media for the current atate.

Using Conklin as the example, MKC report was basically nothing more than that Conklin is preparing for thr possibility that he could be cut/traded. To me this would fall under the no shit category. I sure hope he is and I would be based on how the NFL works as a business Jones showed he can play and is on a rookie deal. CLE needs to free up cap. Conklin accounts for 12M this year, and 19.5M each of the next two years. His contract is such that they can save cap and reduce his dead money depending on when they cut/trade him.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Browns fans can’t accuse Jimmy Haslam of being cheap.

After adding $5 million to Amari Cooper’s deal, the Browns rank number one in the league in cash spending for 2024 according to Spotrac.

The Browns have 89 players signed for a total of $346 million, led by Deshaun Watson who has a cap hit of $63 million this season.

Cleveland’s week 1 opponent, the Dallas Cowboys, are last in the league in cash spending.

Spend money up front and avoid dead cap money. Sounds like good advice and damn near guarantees Jack Conklin will be here for the start of the season and I say he should get time in at LT if Wills can't play. Get him familiar now but most importantly put our two best Tackles on the line to start the season.

I'm ready to dump Wills now.. He just looks lost out there...

1. We now have the most cap space in the league
2. We now have the ability to overcome his contract a few short months from now
3. We have processed a full salary conversion
4. We have all of our draft picks back for this spring.
