Browns Browns are moving to Brook Park

I would like Haslam to sell the team to someone "Competent"
I don't think they're as bad as what we could end up with. Either way you might as well get used to having them around. After this new stadium is built they'll be here a very long time.

They at least have no fear of spending money on players, coaches, FO and facilities. We'll see in a few more weeks if they decide to give the boot to anyone.

That is the correct take in my view.

What I don't like is he gives establishment vibes, like he is run by the NFL. The hires are horrific.

But he gave the NFL a middle finger when he went after Watson which is why the NFL so desperately wants Watson to fail, and fail he has. But the signing alone gave me hope Haslem is done listening.

This is kind of how I imagine it happened, on acquiring Deshaun Watson. Andrew Berry has publicly said they were evaluating QBs throughout the league and in college during the '21 Season. Which makes sense, it is his job. And if you remember, the '22 Draft for QBs was historically bad. Paul Depodesta would later joke he and Les Snead (Rams GM) had a good time in Day 1 of the '22 Draft since both franchises had recently traded picks for QBs.

Because we know the #s for Watson were phenemonal. The man was on a HOF trajectory. But after 27 sexual misconduct allegations, an entire season missed, and an impending suspension, was there any consideration that Watson may be affected? Personally, I feel better, maybe more experienced executives would have considered the psychological impact of the fallout.

We have to remember Watson was beloved. Basically what Joe Burrow is today, tied in with a nice story of how Warrick Dunn helped his family buy a house (rags to riches). I believe he was going for a Russell Wilson-type brand as far as his image in the community. That was gone, and it was immediate the moment he stepped back onto the field against Jackonsville with fans chanting loudly, "YOU SICK FUCK!"

Is seeking out a Watson embroiled in sexual misconduct trials and convincing ownership to get him a record-breaking contract a fireable offense? Yes. Yes it is. And I would have no issue if the entire FO is let go after the season. I, of course, would not advocate for it, but there is no argument not to. Damning as it gets.

Why just the front office? It has been stated unequivocally that AB and KS make all decisions together as a hivemind. Putting nothing at KS feet is absurd considering his buffoonery in handling Baker and ultimately driving him out of Cleveland. I would not be surprised in the least if Kevin himself was the loudest voice in the room when it came to going after Watson.

Kevin Stefanski is strictly a Head Coach. It is not his job to evaluate Trade Candidates, Free Agents, and College Players. Texans Watson compared to Browns Mayfield (which is not Bucs Mayfeld) is not close and if you ask any coach across the league in '22 who is better on the field, you'd get the same answer. But even if Stefanski gave the same answer any other coach would have, that's not his job. In his position as HC, his performance has been good, especially considering he often doesn't have much to work with.

He has the greatest Browns roster in a generation to work with.
That says more about the Browns than it does KS. Having to start Deshaun Watson for multiple games over the last three season is not working with much. Not to mention a dearth of young talent due to all the picks traded away. Still to hang around .500 with a playoff appearance in '23 is pretty good for the Watson Era. Most teams, including ourselves in the past, would have bottomed out in Year 1.

Do you like Kenny Atkinson? He was in a similar situation in Brooklyn. No picks for years after a horrible trade. He slowly built up the team with whatever talent the Nets could get, and made the playoffs in his 3rd season there. The next season the lack of talent caught up to the team, and he was forced out. My belief is this was in preparation for Durant/Irving, who would want their own HC. And so Steve Nash was hired to replace Atkinson the next year, which proved to be a poor decision.

Atkinson is now the HC of the #1 Seed Cleveland Cavaliers, a prediction no one made. I guess not being a part of a poverty franchise who trades their entire future for dreams helps.

Let's not compare NBA rosters to NFL.

The Browns have been a dark horse Superbowl pick for 5 straight years. Stefanski has failed spectacularly. And he has had 2 #1 picks at QB to work with, an all world record breaking phenom in Watson who he forced into his shit offense and destroyed, all world WRs. huge FA pickups, one of the best defenses in the league. How many more coaches have to be fired from the Browns to save Stefanski's skin? Much like my ex wife, the body count is getting high.

The Browns have been a dark horse Superbowl pick for 5 straight years.
Since '21, after the playoff game in KC, no one, I repeat no one, has picked the Browns as a dark horse candidate of winning the AFC North, let alone the Super Bowl. Never mind, I guess there might be someone in the universe, but certainly not a trendy pick at any point in the Watson Era.

'22: Suspension Year
'23: This is where Browns fans might have suggested something crazy, but most people were in wait and see since Watson after he returned. Most people didn't even have the Browns going to the playoffs. We did make the playoffs.
'24: I can say this pretty definitively because it still is '24. No one picked the Browns to win anything.

I have no Super Bowl hopes. That’s fairlytale level stuff for me.

Here’s what I want:

• I want to be at least 6-6 every year at minimum, &/thus in the hunt come Thanksgiving week.
• I want at least a medium QB and medium D
• I want a fuckin kicker
• I want a couple of signature wins per year

2 out of 4 this year. The Ravens and Steelers wins were damn fun. Jameis is fun despite his huge Achilles heel, and our D is better than average.

After that, roll the dice and see if we can make a run

As a season ticket holder, I am really excited about this. First of all, Myles Garrett is absolutely correct. TONS of teams play in stadiums outside of the city limits, in suburbs. So the narrative that "Cleveland is losing the team" is nonsense. I also hear a whole lot of people saying that football is meant to be played in the elements. . . or AFC North Football should be played outside. That's a fine opinion, but as a season ticket holder, I ALWAYS have games in November/December, when the weather gets cold and wet, that NOBODY will buy. (And it has nothing to do with their record, because last year when we had our best record in forever, I had two games that I couldn't sell the tickets). Nobody wants to fill the stadium when the weather gets bad. So for that reason, we need a dome.
You like it so you can make 80 bucks.

I don't buy JIA's/Ken Carman's #2 without a timeline.

Assuming it's true the question is who and when did they convince Haslam that "Watson would lead them to a Super Bowl". I don't see any GM ever saying that about any QB or any single player. That seems wreckless to say to your owner if you like being an NFL GM.

If Haslam was convinced after BM requested a trade it makes some sense, but why say that when BM is still your QB?

He has the greatest Browns roster in a generation to work with. lol
That's true...... in the offseason. then the season starts
And you are currently calling KS a liar because he has stated about 10000 times they approach every decision collectively as a hive mind.
You know that's not true. people get to have some input but there is always a leader. and rightly so without a leader you are lost.

If you get the QB right and the coach(ing)) who is competent your window is always open. it all comes back to Watson everyone would take him over Baker at that time. but it just shit out on us. our luck.

Haha...looks to be miserable. The last game I went to at Muni Field was like this at I was high in the upper deck near the corrugated metal along the top row in the end zone. Lost to the oilers. Maybe 1985 or 86 or so.

I remember opening day for the Tribe, having to go back to the car for more blankets there. and the 1997 game 3 of the WS. I was so bundled up my dog went after me when I got home.
