I'm sorry but this is bullshit. I was cheering my flippin lungs out when DumbAss went down ...but not because the lummox was injured, rather because we were finally going to see a clearly better QB in Quinn/Dorsey/the guy under the bridge. I know a ton of people who cheered that day, and not a single cheer was for an injury. This guy is such a mental weakling it's sickening. DA will be lucky to be third string by the end of next season. I wish him nothing but the worst in the rest of his professional career. I'm sure he'll be able to survive just fine on the millions he fleeced from our pathetic franchise.

All bullshit aside, I don't think I've ever seen a QB quite like Anderson. Perhaps one of the worst I ever saw with his skillset, not even close. I hear Jeff George brought up a lot but he could sling it and did put up some pretty serious numbers over more than 8 games.
He kind of reminds me of my neighbor Mortie growing up. From about 8 years old he could chuck the ball pretty good but didn't get any more accurate by the time he was 18. It wasn't just DA's inaccuracy either, he was not even average at anything outside of the occasional deep seam route. He sucked at just taking snaps, clock management, handing off, had zero mobility and tripped over his own big feet, constantly got passes knocked down despite being LeBron height damn near, had the personality of a doorknob (loved the dumbshit smile after a big pick), had no huddle command, really no leadership qualities whatsoever but the biggest thing----couldn't even complete a simple screen pass let alone a short dumpoff. Beings that the league is around 70% or so short routes, that ain't very good.
Honestly, I have no idea why anybody ever tried fooling themselves this guy was anything more than what he was, which is a suck ass QB. He didn't get any better since his high school days and never will. He had a few big games in 07 that padded his stats against some of the most dreadful defenses we have seen since our return---before they had a read on him---and he fully propagated from Winslow, Edwards and JJ making circus catches all year behind one of the best lines in the game. Even when he was good he was bad, just really hard to watch he was so incompetent at times. The Pro Bowl summed up everything about the guy, so bad teammates and coaches were shaking their heads in disbelief. He caused division amongst fans, the team and the front office, gave us false hope at times and showed no commitment to film or improvement. The fact he came out and said something as stupid as quantifying a whole fan base over a few people booing at his injury (Couch got booed ten times worse after his concussion when he got ruthlessly pummeled by the Ratbirds), really sums up his hick ass. Half of the few drunks booing were probably just happy he was out of the game.
I could really give a shit less what happens to him. Phillip made him rich and stunted our franchise a good 3 years by giving this guy a guaranteed job and Scott Mitchell money when a ton of us knew it was a mistake. Queen has nothing to do with anything, it doesn't matter what he is or turns out to be, DA just sucks ass. Hell, he was even the culprit behind dividing a bunch of diehard message board posters into a board split, which is the real pisser.

I do, and it ain't Derek Anderson's fault.
The powers that be at the other place decided they didn't care for Brady Quinn for whatever reason (he's a prettyboy? they're latent homosexuals??) and decided to make life difficult for those that wanted to give him a shot. Derek, being Quinn's competition, was a natural guy for this faction to back, and you saw how it played out. Stan shot himself in the foot, and now has a beyond-unreadable board to deal with.

I gotta admit - we didn't really treat that poor kid well when he wasn't the ONE starting himself every freakin week. That last staff couldn't have messed up our QB situation any more than they did. You don't draft 1 inexperienced QB to train another inexperienced QB instead. Why waste a 1st round pick for such an absurdity? I always defined the acronymn DA as Dumb Ass to annoy the Oregon State fanbase telling us what we needed at QB. Every day felt like Valentine's day and Homecoming for a little while.
As much as I LOVE our culture - sometimes people take things too far with throwing batteries and bottles or calling the home of a coach they disapprove of and threatening his family members. There's being a fan and then there's being an idiot. When our fanbase decides it doesn't like someone - there's always a few that take things too far and it comes back to bite us in the glutes when it's time to find a respectable coaching candidate interested in our extended transition process.
As far as DA's perception of the cheering goes, my impression of that was people were cheering the QB they always wanted to see get a chance on game day more than they were celebrating an injury.
I always felt bad DA was such a bad QB because he seemed like a good kid that didn't WANT to suck. For that matter Philcox was a wonderful kid - we just didn't want to dominate the football follies because of him any longer than we had to. I don't want a nice kid that can't win - I want some degree of arrogance that CAN win.

Well, we drafted Quinn in 2006 because we had Charlie Frye as our starter. So the Quinn drafting (while I didn't agree with the trade up back into the first), was legit. He was a guy that many tagged as a top 5, no less than top 10 pick. Savage saw a steal in the early 20's and jumped on it. To be honest, if Quinn does pan out, the move looks genius, although it's not looking like that's the case as of yet.

When DA got cut Stan and his alter ego "Horse Balls" went ballistic and started insulting and ridiculing any posters that dared say anything negative about DA or anything positive about BQ....This isn't rational behavior and anybody who is obsessed that much with someone they don't know isn't right in the head.
On the other hand, I'm glad he drove me away from his board because this one seems to have a lot more knowledgeable posters and and is certainly easier to debate an issue without all the childish insults.
