Browns Deshaun Watson - Football Talk

Smart Browns fans will be like Baker Who after this season. The love affair with this Drunk Elf Scrub is baffling. So hes better than the 25 stiffs the Browns drafted or brought in before him, doesnt mean hes any good. The Browns won in spite of Mayfield not because of him. The Browns will win big because of Deshaun Watson. He is an elite QB

When Watson was under center for Clemson, there was never a game I didn't think we could win - AND - no matter what the score was, there was a never a point in a game that I didn't think Watson could bring us back from. You just always had this feeling like, "don't worry, Watson has this...we're going to win". And we typically did.

I never got that feeling with Baker. I typically felt like I didn't even know if we could score every time we had the ball, let a lone win. And I know if we got he ball back late in the 4th trailing...there was no chance Baker was leading us back to the win.

If we got the ball back late in the fourth, trailing at Clemson...I wasn't worried at all, I knew Watson was leading us back to the win. I can't wait to have that feeling again; but this time in Cleveland.

When Alabama scored to take a 31-28 lead with 2:07 left in the 4th quarter of the national championship, I was in the stands, turned to my buddy next to me and said, "They left Watson too much time, we're going to win this". Little did I know, Watson pointed at the clock and told Coach Swinney, "they left us too much time". Watson huddled his team and told them, "Let's go be great'. Then this happened....

The Browns have never had a QB that clutch...at least not since Otto Graham. Baker was one of, if not the, worst 4th quarter QB's in the NFL in his 4 years. That has changed fellas. We got a clutch, QB with ice in his veins when the game is on the line. Things are about to be very exciting in Cleveland.

Totally agree. When you choke in college like Mayfield did vs Georgia, they totally shut him down in the 2nd Half, that was a major red flag. That video of him getting tackled into the wall by the Police in Fayetteville, would have immediately taken him off my Draft board, and Dorsey made him the Overall 1st pick. Just a flat out moronic decision. Then crying like a little B when the Police were arresting him. That told me all I needed to know about this clown.

Vs what Watson did vs Alabama 2 years in a row, told me this guy is going to be special. Dabo tried to tell everyone, and the Browns foolishly traded down when he was right there for him, to take a clown Safety Peppers who they knew failed a Combine Drug Test. Unbelieveable. Then traded up for Njoku and the Steelers took TJ Watt the very next pick. Talk about classic mental retardation by this organization.

But I'm ecstatic they have Watson now. Guy is unreal.

What a weird message.
As the owner you are ultimately responsible for what happens with the team.
"I gave him permission to do that". Is what he is saying.
What a snake.

I agree. You ask a guy who has spent his life being successful, and buys and NFL team because it's his dream, to sit there and shut up and never say anything or be involved?

There is no way, if I were in Jimmy's shoes, would I buy a team and then be silent with my head in the sand. That's a nuts "ask".

Modell moved the team
Lerner brought it back, but he wasn't really a football man
Lerner's son Randy was an uninvolved owner who loved f'n' EPL over the NFL ... hard pass
Jimmy & Dee may be imperfect, but they seem to be trying hard, putting up the dollars (sorry Ravens heh heh heh), and will eventually get their stadium with a massive waterfront upgrade.

I'm totally fine with current ownership.

We are now touring the Haslams as model owners? Come on, a little common sense. Jimmy Haslam is the worst owner the Browns have ever had. Modell gave a shit, the Lerner's were Brown's fans. This is a money investment only for the Truckstop Hillbillies. Garbage owners and garbage han beings.

Yep, best owner we've had in the last 60 years. I didn't say "model owners". In fact, I said they're imperfect.
Model moved the team. Giving a shit has nothing to do with it.
The organization hardly flourished under the Lerner's. Haslam at least won a playoff game, got us coach of the year, the best GM we've had, and currently, the best roster we've had since the return.

And still couldn't win a sausage... Next?

I can't stand the Haslams. However, credit where due ....they did what it took to finally get a franchise QB, which is everything.

And also, please refrain from personal attacks on each other. I understand it's the off-season, but keep the attacks to football. Would like to read one thread without the word rape or racist in it.

We could go through the records of every player on every team and realize you have been rooting for rapists, murderers, and pedophiles for decades. So either come to grips with it or find a new hobby.

Well said.

You left out where they immediately sold the name of the stadium, changed the color orange to TN orange, changed the uniforms and started trying to strongarm the city into making the stadium a dome...

Cool. Well some of us love the Browns, their history, their uniforms and the colors Paul Brown chose and would prefer some bumbling hillbilly from TN stop trying to change the Browns. It is all good, we'll circle back in the future and see how folks feel about Haslam when he strong arms a new dome in a different state and moves the Browns.

He can move it now.. He's inept.. and has bastardized this franchise..

He moves the team, we'll all hate him.

On Browns history, if that's the hang-up, then pine away for white helmets, as they were the most successful in franchise history.
