It's time to turn the page and begin the hunt for a new QB. #Browns

Sorry player fans. It's time. Baker Mayfield is an average NFL QB, a future journeyman ...and it's time to look at our options. There are only two QBs in the NFL worse than Baker Mayfield in the 4th quarter. We routinely finish in the bottom half in almost every meaningful passing category. There is nothing at all special about him. I used to think he had an elite arm, but a lot of QBs can throw the ball hard. He can certainly throw it, but how well does he pass it really? High, hard, and behind. Rinse and repeat. A large percentage of his completions go that route as well. He has every single weakness he had coming out of college. Nothing at all has improved. In the NFL he isn't chucking up prayers to NFL caliber WRs being covered by guys who are now checking out your groceries. Baker Mayfield is the 4th best QB in the AFC North. Out of 4 teams.

Last place in the division. Most in here predicted outlandish success this season. 12 wins? 14? Maybe more. This blow-hard thought we would likely have less wins than last season, simply due to a historically easy schedule in 2020. The Browns just lost to a team with no kicker, and a fat QB who likely has lower back problems, and runs about as fast as an arthritic sloth. People are now starting to look for new excuses. The new coach is holding the team back. The WRs drop the ball too much. Mean fans are hurting Emily Mayfield's feelings and it's having an effect on Baker's play. The truth is, there's a bottleneck at the QB position. We have a Superbowl caliber roster, and a QB that is limiting what we can do with it. Baker Mayfield is the best QB we have had in twenty years ....and people are desperate to defend him. I get it.

Against the Steelers on Sunday we witnessed something we try really hard to ignore. Baker throwing high and hard the majority of the game. While throwing from the pocket, Baker not only can't see most of the field, but he throws his trademark bullets high enough to get over the defenders standing between he and his receiver. This just doesn't work, as the trajectory of these bullets leave them high and often behind his mark. A difficult ask of WRs, TEs, and RBs. You'll have player fans on twitter showing slow motion replays of a ball going through Hooper's hand, and calling anyone who dares criticize Baker a "mouth breather", but in reality Hooper was at the top of his jump, arms outstretched to the max, trying to reel in a high, hard, and behind football. Could have easily been a walk in touchdown instead... a bad pass. A QB could normally avoid this by putting some touch on the ball, a little arc, or air under it ....but Baker doesn't seem to have that gear.

Mayfield throughout his entire career has made a cottage industry of rolling to his right. It seems to be the one thing he is great at. The problem is, when you are a one-trick pony, other teams game-plan to take that trick away from you. Baker has rolled right and attempted to pass a total of 6 times this year. Think about that in relation to each year prior. Teams have forced Baker into the pocket, the Steelers literally dared the Browns to pass practically the entire game. How is it working out?

Fourth quarter, and another chance to win a game. Most of us knew what was going to happen didn't we? We have held onto hope, praying that the light would go on, that Baker would make wholesale changes, and he would become the Browns franchise QB ...someone we could count on to put the team on his back and lead us to victory with the game on the line. What we have got in reality is a QB that is 33 of 62, with 4 TDs and 5 INTS. Sam Darnold is the only QB as bad as Mayfield with the game on the line since 2018. Mayfield's passing rating with the game on the line is 61.3 and the Browns are 3-11 in these scenarios.

Kevin Stefanski was hired to reign in Mayfield's erratic tendencies. Stefanski's offense tends to turn average QBs into statistical wonders, (Case Keenum) and perhaps limit some players at certain positions, like a downfield QB and burner WR for example. Some argue that Stefanski has taken Mayfield's gunslinger aura away from him, which while true is also the reason why Baker has become far less prone to interceptions. The dink and dunk offense with numerous screens and TE heavy route trees certainly makes a QB look good on paper at times ...but who is Baker Mayfield without the ability to roll out on play action and plant bombs down the field? Certainly these are often 50/50 bombs, but they do add to what an opposing defense has to worry about. Mayfield has 10 completions of 20 or more yards this season ...20th in the league. Recall Stefon Diggs having the same issue that OBJ is currently having in the Stefanski offense. He moved on to the Bills and is back to all-pro form. I suspect OBJ will do the same for some other team.

In short, we have no vertical passing attack, while employing one of the very best WR tandems in the game, and one of the fastest WRs in the league in Schwartz. Did the Browns hire the right coach? If you believe analytics and going by the book is usually right, then yes. If you believe in coaches who base decisions on the ebb and flow of the game, their "gut" as it were, then no. We are the worst team in the league at going for it on 4th down. Analytics got us there.

We could have had Canton native and lifelong Browns fan Josh McDaniels.

So where are we now? A Superbowl caliber roster, with an extremely limited QB, and a coach who can only go by the book, apparently not capable of harnessing whatever "elite" trait Mayfield may have, if he has one at all. Playoffs this season ...not likely. Our Superbowl window is open for only a short while ...without the Browns front office doing something extremely out of character (see, ballsy) like going after a Watson, Wilson, or Rogers ...I don't see us going anywhere.

The thing is if he's willing to sit out the season it would push him even farther down the list of NFL QB options in 2023. There is a common ground here that benefits both.

Many people struggling with their weight dont know how to regulate it.
It requires proper planning, like restoring a car.
I agree with this 100%. For me the issue has never been knowing how to do it, but rather changing my behavior, to accomplish it. As I said, for 25 years my method was running 20 mile per week. My knees paid the toll. Now it really is a simple matter of eating sensible portions and stopping the intake after 7. I'll get back to walking 3 or 4 miles per day and I should be able to get back on track. It is all about discipline. I don't pig out at meals, I just keep going back for more, afterwards. Although I did once eat 42 phyrohy (pierogies) and a quart of sour cream at one sitting.

As I said from the beginning. . . the Browns are going to have to flat out release Baker. He gets his 18.8 M and whatever he can get from a new team. In the end, if Watson doesn't have to sit in NFL jail for too long, it's still a win for the Browns, unless Watson gets hurt. Jimmy has plenty of money. Cut him, pay him, and let's move on. No NFL Team will give us a penny for him. Why should they? Just consider it part of the price for getting Watson.
With the information we have available, this seems to make good sense.

I've become an avid hiker.. Rags is right about Semaglutide.. I'm on Ozempic , which the base ingredient is Semaglutide and its helped me lose weight but I still yo yo at times.. I'm making a concerted effort to hike more this summer... I have an excursion planned at Hocking Hills in June which I'm totally looking forward too And in Holimont, NY.. I love the outdoors and Nature in general. Plus I will frequent the hiking trails we have in my area.. Eventually I will work myself up to do a thru hike by where I will sleep over night in the wilderness somewhere.. And continue a 2-3 day hike.. I have been looking at new hiking and camp gear.. I can't wait for the warm weather to get here.. What a shitty start to May... Gah!!

Okay.. Back on topic LOL... Sowwies!

There could also be an addictive factor.
I dont know you, but many obese people / over-eaters are addicts, looking for that sweet satistying dopamine rush.

I have been battling an alcohol addiction (only one) for the largest part of my life.
The only way I could really stop doing it was not just "dont buy a 12 pack out of work" but also getting real busy with important things which I REALLY didnt want to mess up.

I have a friend who was a THIQ alcoholic... So was my father... They just kept drinking till they hit rock bottom and lost everything before they could seek help and stop.. My Father sadly drank and smoked himself to death.. Despite his weaknesses.. I still love and respected him... He held a lot of bitterness in his life... I think that's what ultimately killed him...

Baker will be cut, or we will trade him for a juggs machine and we eat the salary.
It doesn't much matter if Baker is circumcised or not.
I haven't seen his wife's juggs but, I bet she's more useful than he was last year.
Let's let Minny eat the celery. Would make a nice late night snack for him.

Sorry. But, I guess I've reached my Baker limit for a while. :censored:

Thanks Rags - I really need to do this the conventional way and stop eating like a pig. My real issue is that I keep snacking from 9 pm until I go to bed at 3 AM. I work at the computer a lot. Even when I ran 20 miles a week I ate too much. I was at a proper weight, but if would have eaten reasonably I would have been a rail.

I let this shit happen and I need to change my behavior. If I don't, I have to think I am not going to hold on to my health much longer.

I appreciate the thought, I really do.
Trust me, talk to your Doctor about the SemaGlutide. It is a once per week injection into a fold of bodyfat. I have seen a half dozen people so far use it and are successfully losing weight. The main mechanism of it is it makes you not very hungry. You get slightly hungry at times but don't really crave anything and your body registers you filling full a lot quicker.

It is tough to retrain eating habits as is, it is worth looking into for the help. The last thing you or any of us want is your health to start deteriorating.

As I said in a earlier post.. I'm on Ozempic.. it's done wonders for me...

they will cut baker but they wont do it until the final cut to 53 after training camp. It'll be very hard for him to play at all in '22.
yeah its nasty but It means he prolly wont be starting for PITT this season or god forbid a jackson backup singer in BALT.

For anyone that wants a refresher of how things went down hill for Baker

Reading this trigger for me that I could see CLE not cutting Baker at all if they cannot find a trade partner with compensation they want. Cutting Baker or keeping him still costs them the 19M. So they might just hang on to him all year, let him leave as a FA thinking they can get a compensatory pick out of losing him as a FA

Ahhh, the third round comp pick. So at the very least BM's value is a third round pick and if they trade him they will be foregoing a third round comp pick which is right around a 100 overall. Why would they trade that to some team, subsequently pay BM's salary on top of that and lose a 3rd round comp pick?

Sorry BM. You are here until we get proper compensation. However long that takes.

I think with more people engaged in the gym the, the idea weight standard has come down, not that there are more fatasses among us than ever before.

Weight for me is a more pressing issue. For 35 years of my life I was a 20 - 25 mile per week runner. I stayed weight appropriate but honestly ate whatever I wanted and paid no attention to diet. Arthritis in m right knee stopped the running, my career changed to one of sitting at my desk at home, and food, which has always been an addiction to me, took over.

Losing 1/2 a person is now mandatory for me. Fuck it, I m just going to eat like skinny man and let time work its magic. If not, I may not be around next draft.

Always some shit.

I think these teams for many reasons should be interested in Baker.
Jets, Lions, Texans, Panthers, Seahawks, Cardinals,
Lions the most we could trade QB's and we could/should get a pick. BM would fit right in for them. lol
none of them have a better starter. I'm just happy he didn't go to the steelers. ☢️

Murray is equal or better than Baker. Wilson with the Jets is an unknown one year in after drafting high in the first. So neither would make sense to give up assets and salary cap for Baker.

Those two assholes did Cleveland dirty more than Baker or the FO.

The FO told Baker they were looking into Watson. Baker leaked that information. Then he requested a trade before Watson decided where he was going.

Now these two lying sacks o' shit create a one sided story and disregard all of Baker's former team mates who spoke out on his behalf after his request. I think it amounted to 0. For a team with all this "disfunction" the players seem to be aligned the same to a man.

Then we have these oxygen thieves talking shit.
