Browns - Joe Flacco | Page 17 | Barking Hard

Browns Joe Flacco

Ken Carmen just brought it up on Fox8 in his evening sports show. Try 92.3theFan tomorrow morning if you want to get a better flavor.
I am good. It being Carmen says it all for me. Having listened to him in the past, he is exactly the type I was thinking of for silly local talk radio type.

First and foremost what will matter is if the team is winning or not winning. That is what seems to drive locker room division. It's also selectively forgetting CLE was 4-1 in Watsons starts (I left out the IND game since he went out early). While I think making W/L a QB stat is asinine (football is the ultimate team sport of the major sports), if it's going to be done it can't also be selective based on how they played in the games.

If the team is not winning and the QB is not playing well that's a bit of a no shit that fans, media, and some players in the locker room will be pining for the backup QB. It could be Joe Flacco or Joe Schmo as the backup. It will be the same. As browns fans, let alone one paid to talk about them, we have seen it for the better part of 20+ years and know this.

Most all of those 20 years was because our starter was in fact a backup. Save the last 4 or 5 years.
True. But point being the backup is always wanted when the team is not winning and the starter is not playing well. Could go back to Kosar/Testaverde or Testaverde/Zeier. Can go to other teams scenarios like Wentz/Foles, Johnson/Flutie, Flutie/Brees, Gannon/Salisbury, Wilson/Stidham, etc. It's all the same when there is losing and QB not playing well.

If I go by what players say, they understand the business. Be it a QB or any other position, if the guy is making big money teams are going to ride with them far longer than maybe they should. It isn't genrarly a problem in the locker room. Just as what guys are getting paid isn't generally a problem. But oh how some of the local and national sports media like to spin it to an issue because it sells.

Not really related but kind of reminds me of this (Google or on YouTube search "nfl films halftime adjustments") which I have heard many a former coach and player say. Tried linking the YouTube video but it gets blocked. Similar silly stuff you will hear some local and national sports media talk about as it it's a real thing
