Browns Myles Garrett demands to be traded.

Washington has a ton of cap room and a QB1 on a rookie deal. Thus, here's a wild-ass proposal...

Commanders receive:
- Myles Garrett, and his contract burden
- DeShawn Watson, and his contract burden, who they will promptly cut

Browns receive:
- 29th overall pick in the 2025 draft
- Cap relief

Browns 2025 draft picks would then be:
  • Round 1, Pick 2
  • Round 1, Pick 29
  • Round 2, Pick 1
  • Round 3, Pick 3
  • Round 3, Pick 30 (from Buffalo)
  • Round 4, Pick 1
  • Round 5, Pick 26 (from Detroit)
  • Round 6, Pick 2
  • Round 6, Pick 15 (from Minnesota)
  • Round 6, Pick 23 (from Chicago)
  • Round 6, comp pick
  • Round 7, comp pick
+++++++++

Basically, to trade Myles to a contender, the other team is going to have to free us up to sign players now. So, if you're a contender, with no high first rounder to give, then it's a package deal. You take Watson and his money too, and we'll still take your first rounder this year, and maybe your third too.

Full disclosure - I have no idea if this is even financially how it would/could work. Just spittballing.

We are not winning anything next year, anyway, so better to eat the cap pen as soon as possible and free it up for 2026.
The sooner they are gone, the better.
Myles is a pass rush specialist, ever since he entered the league, and having and overpriced one on this roster is a luxury we cant afford.

I don't think AB has any interest in "waiting for next year". He needs wins now, this year.
You have to be realistic. Offensive line needs to be retooled. Unless we're going with Cousins or some other vet, it's hard to expect a rookie QB to lead us to a bunch of wins next season. I don't think AB or Stefanski need a playoff season to save them. Show some progress and wait for the anchor to come off.

And even then, it's still a hit, but less of one. I believe you are correct sir.

And now i remember one of the places I saw it.

"Q: Aren’t there salary cap issues if they trade Garrett?

A: If they trade him before June 1, he counts $36.2 million in dead money on the cap. But they also would be trading Garrett’s contract, which counts $19.7 million on the 2025 salary cap. In the end, they’d take a $16.5 million salary cap hit. This is according to Over The Cap’s Jason Fitzgerald. There are other complicated issues, such as waiting until after June 1 to trade him. But that also would mean not adding any picks in the 2025 draft because it will be over."

After the media blitz, what is next for Myles Garrett? My prediction — Terry Pluto

Not just a pass rush specialist, nor over paid.

Cap hits usually aren't that simple and would likely eat in to the roll over game they have been playing.

Winning a SB next year, no not likely. Winning games and competing for a playoff birth, maybe. Depending on what the QB situation looks like.

To paraphrase Joe Thomas, you don't get closer to wining by getting rid of your best players.

Unless the Garrett situation goes scorched earth with real distractions and sitting out games he is more likely to be wearing brown and orange next season than not.
