The Pocket passer will come back in vogue eventually... Teams will begin to realize running QB's are at greater risk for injury.. Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts haven't won anything yet in terms of SB's... Paying for various injuries incurred will take a toll possibly on salary caps. Jackson has been pretty lucky so far... But the window for him is closing, soon...Howard is a hard pick, for some, because 1) He was on an insanely loaded OSU team who is projected to set a draft record at 16 players selected, and 2) The uber-QB is the current success template in the NFL, with Jackson, Allen, Mahomes, Daniels, etc etc. The Big Ben types aren't making it, at the moment. BUT, I doubt they're going away and you have to think a 6'4" 240lb QB who can move decently, and willingly, will always have a place.
Now do the available vets
I go with Jones based on.. He's younger.. And like you pointed out... Stefs heavy PAO1. Kurt Cousins
- Was coming off of achilles injury and never really seemed 100% healthy last season. Was fantastic in Stefanski's offense in Minnesota. Also did a great job of coaching Pennix in ATL. There are hurdles 1)Not a FA 2)ATL would take large cap hit to release him 3) Browns can't absorb his $27M/year salary with Watson's on the payroll as well.
2. Daniel Jones
- Good tools and could potentially improve greatly in Stefanski's play action heavy offense.
3. Trey Lance
- Why not?
I prefer Cousins because of his success in the offense and his ability to tudor a young QB. Either one is only a bridge QB, not a long term solution.I go with Jones based on.. He's younger.. And like you pointed out... Stefs heavy PAO
