Browns The 2025 hunt for a QB

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That's right.
When was the last time any QB said anything about hanging in the pocket to the last moment, standing tall, delivering an accurate throw and to the correct WR based on what the defense was doing? Or just stepping up in the pocket and making a throw.

It's all about scrambling and throwing on the run while WR's scramble around too. It's chaos.
It's turning in to sandlot negro ball..... They are turning the game into a farce..... The game seems to be dumbed down.... Everybody runs basically the same offense because these colleges aren't developing pocket passers... Every college team has some version of Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts.. Even the big guys like Allen and Mahomes are running around but they are a different breed.... I remember the 70's and 80's when everybody had a different offense.... You had Air Coryell.. The WCO.... In Seattle you had Ground Chuck AKA Chuck Knox!... Great coach btw who didn't really have a lot to work with besides Curt Warner and Dave Krieg who was a hot and cold passer.... You had the Hogg offense in Washington... In Houston it was the Run and Shoot.. Now everyone runs some modified version of the WCO paired with "Running Game Light!.. Its downright nauseating to think about it.

Drafting a RB with a top 10 pick is unheard of. Teams just do not do it even though defenses are not prepared for a true running team and would get crushed by it. We could easily do it with Chubb, Foreman and Ford but they would have to dedicate to it. If they did they could run the ball over these smaller, speedier DL's and LB's.

Oddly though, Dawand Jones is better in Pass pro than running the ball. That makes no sense other than they just want to chuck the ball up.

Right now, our OL of the future is …

LT - Dawand Jones
LG - TBD (have Joel through 2025)
C - Luke Wypler (have Pocic through 2025)
RG - Zak Zinter (have Teller through 2025)
RT - TBD (have Conk through 2026)

… I’m thinking you’re right. At least an OT.

Not a big proponent of using a top 5 selection on this Class. Maybe my mind will change. Don't forget we already have a significant amount of the cap with Watson. Unless that changes, I don't see it as prudent to tie even more resources there. Especially because Stefanski has been pretty good at drawing production at QB from surprising places (Brisset, Flacco, now Winston).

This is supposed to be a good class for tackles. We are in need of getting younger there. Consequence of the Watson Contract. Everything was pushed back. We will be feeling the consequences over the next few seasons. Not to mention the years of 1st Round Picks we never got to make. Team is in need of an infusion of talent.

You see how all Cam Ward does is win everywhere he goes and you want him. But then you see his biggest comp is Baker Mayfield and you stop wanting him.

Give me a 6'5+ QB with a rocket arm and a high football IQ with an endless work ethic, or give me nothing.

I will say the top 2 QBs in this Draft (Sanders, Ward) are legit 1st Round talents. I prefer Sanders, but I'm sure his father will make sure we, among others, know not to look at his son's direction. That is, of course, if through some miracle we could even afford a 1st Round QB. If the annual Watson SA charge comes early, maybe we get bailed out by the league through suspension. If that happens, I don't think we're in a bad spot to take a QB like Sanders or Ward. Obviously, we have OL issues, but that can be remedied with a full bevy of picks and an influx of cap from the voided Watson contract.

One can dream...
