Tomlin is a Schrödinger's coach.Yes but Tomlin is a great coach who doesn't need excuses to feed to a crowd with low expectations, he just wins and gets to the playoffs ...and has been to 2 Superbowls.
I don't want the potential circus that may come with him...He's the only QB I would take in the first round.
You're mixing production as a college player with their NFL production and it's two separate things.Mac Jones is in a completely different station than DTR. Jones is a Heisman Finalist, College Football Champion, 1st Round Pick, Rookie Pro Bowler. DTR was a solid college QB who is just happy he got drafted and gets to be on a NFL Roster. Completely different level.
We can mock Mac Jones or Daniel Jones or Justin Fields, but this is the level of QB we can acquire unless Darnold is available and he'd actually want to be here. We're too low in the Draft to get Sanders or Ward, even if we think they'd be good. And there are no other QBs in the Draft worth a top 10 pick.
Mac Jones is no better than DTR in the NFL. Jones' draft status means nothing. He's started multiple games and has not impressed. He has a complete NFL scouting report on him already.
DTR has only a few starts. There's a better chance he has improved and now is the time to determine how much he has improved.
Jimmy has a close relationship with the Mannings... My bet is Haslam tanks this year and next to be in line to draft Archie Manning...We're not going to find our long-term QB for a while, unless our luck changes dramatically and we find a gem in the mid rounds. I think the best option is Kirk Cousins, if Atlanta lets him go. We could get him on a minimum contract, like Wilson in Pittsburgh, because the Falcons will be paying him, like the Broncos are paying Wilson. Guarantee Cousins the starting job and draft a couple of prospect QBs.
And it will be the 2nd year after the Achilles surgery. I've had 2, one when I was 32 and still playing basketball 3 nights a week. Year 2 is so much better than the first year.
He's a professional QB -- we could use one. If Stefanski can't move the ball with Kirk at QB, then we know he's not the offensive mind he gets credit for.
