Browns The 2025 hunt for a QB

Cousins is clearly a cheaper option. I mean. . . if Berry and Stefanski think Darnold is the long-term solution. . . . Problem is Sam is going to get 45 mil or so a year. Cousins is definitely a bridge. Darnold has played great with a really good offensive coach and weapons out the ass. But I wouldn't do it.

Darnold has only been in the league for 7 years. He might be the younger QB with a little bit of upside after this this season. If he were following a Alex Smith or Brad Johnson type of trajectory.
A few solid years that buy time for the FO to draft & develop a young protege'.

The only thing about trading down, is it's usually worth it when another team needs a coveting QB, and you don't. That ain't the case.
So trading back may nor be worth it.
I'd take the BPA.

Stefanski will be long gone before any QB that "fits his system" matures enough to save him. Drafting a QB based on what he needs to fit an offense that no longer belongs to him is lunacy.

If we want to do this right, we have another year of pain ahead so we can secure the talent.

Here's why we're still searching:

I would rather have Baker, plus the draft picks, plus the cap money back than what we've had to deal with since Watson was brought in.

But, there are two sides to this story and the media is definitely only showing one side to paint Cleveland in a bad light (shocking).

Baker, himself, has admitted he had to fail to be where he is today. He made his share of mistakes here along with the organization.

Just saying.

I agree. Baker certainly shares some of the blame.

"He clearly also hasn't watched more than highlights of TB and the overall season stats."

What does that mean? Baker has been great. Too many interceptions, but even with that, he's a top 8 NFL QB this season without question.

Lamar, Burrow, Goff, Allen, Darnold, and maybe Daniels

Name a QB other than those who are having a better season.

Baker is the only QB in the NFL to beat both Detroit and Philadelphia.
