Browns The 2025 hunt for a QB

OMG!!

Cracking Up Lol GIF

When Watson said no the first time the Browns should have stopped right then and there.

Haslam, however, has the wealthy guy approach to his problems. Just throw money at them.

And here we are.
Yep, that's what I've been saying. Should have just drafted QBs to push Baker, even if it pushed him out, and/or get a veteran through FA who better completes the picture when his contract was up. The rest of the team would be in better shape. The fanbase would be happier. All the new stadium talk would be less vitriolic.

I'd prefer beating off to the offseason, rather than building a gallows.

It’s easy to say that in hindsight.

However, at the time, the opportunity to acquire a three-time Pro Bowler and NFL passing leader in his prime at 26 years old came down to one thing, guaranteeing money. Quarterbacks of that caliber almost never become available. Add to that the fact that QB is the most important position on the field and the belief that the team was just one piece away from Super Bowl contention, and it’s hard to fault him for making the move.

Of course, hindsight is 20/20, and we now know it was a terrible decision. But I won’t criticize him for taking a shot at landing a franchise QB. After all, isn’t that exactly what we all want now, the FO to take a swing at a potential elite quarterback?

Interesting all these years later and we are still debating Baker. Unfortunately it is what it is. Andrew Berry was more concerned with checking a few boxes than developing Baker and helping him evolve.

It is what it is. Hopefully this will be the final year of the Andrew Berry saga.

Onto the QB situation..... If Berry were smart(he isn't) and if Berry prioritized winning games over using his position to further his own agendas, he would cut Watson immediately, take the cap hit, back the Brinks truck up to Aaron Rodgers door and draft the best WR in the draft and with the second pick draft the best RB available to give Rodgers some elite weapons he can help develop.

If Rodgers has anything left in the tank we make a deep playoff run. If he doesn't? We bench him halfway through the season and tank the rest of the year for Manning.

Or you could just hopefully solve the issue for the next 15 years, work a trade with the Titans and shoot your shot on Cam Ward.

Rodgers who couldn't/wouldn't/didn't want to develop young WR late in his career GB?

You can't cut Watson, take that dead money, and back up a brinks truck to anyones door. You can't even field the rest of the current roster as CLE would be way the F over the cap.

No team should be backing a brinks trucks up to Rodgers door at this point in his career based upon performance.

Actually, yes, yes you can..it's called signing him in the form of a bonus. It's done all the time.

You seem triggered by Aaron Rodgers. Don't worry yourself over it, Shabbaz Al-Berry has his "Whites need not apply" sign hanging on the door again and Rodgers doesn't fit the demographic Berry insists on for a franchise QB so you're safe, Berry won't be going after Rodgers and will keep overpaying the mentally fragile rapist.

Kind of explaines why the traded for Kenny Cotton Club Pickett huh?

I have no issue with Rodgers, including his personality. I am a fan of his weekly McAfee appearances. But he is not Rodgers of 2021. There is no reason to believe you can even get 2022. So thus you don't back up a "brinks truck".

You gonna spread that signing bonus across 5 years, and keep him? Cause as soon as you cut guaranteed money, including bonuses count against your cap, and spread ends as soon as you void those remaining years. Just go to over the cap and look at what the cap hit is to cut Watson now. Heck even post June 1.

Yeah, no whites.....Pickett, Flacco, Keenum, and Mullins all being guys signed fit that narrative. Frankly what race, color, country of origin, or religion of any player is not something i give any real thought too.

Those guys were signed as starters?

Nope, sure weren't. Speaking of Flacco, remember when he came in and saved this FO's ass before being told to go fuck yourself Joe, we are sticking with the dueling rapists at QB.

Huh, funny how Baler and Flacco are told to hit bricks while DeRapist still has a job. But sure, Berry doesn't have an agenda.

From Charles Robinson (Senior Writer for Yahoo Sports since '04): Haslam was the driving force behind the Watson decision, as in no one but him wanted to do it. Which makes sense when you think about it. Robinson states that Ownership dictates the QB position and whatever happens there will be decided Jimmy Haslam and Jimmy Haslam alone.

So if we look back at the Haslam QB Search: Manziel -> Mayfield -> Watson -> Does feel like it will at the very least be Sanders (not buying the recent media flip), but who knows?
