The way too early 53-man projection

Not doubling down. I want Wilson to make the squad because I think he's a damn good player.

However, we drafted two LB's and signed Walker. That tells me, and anyone else in the league, that they are not satisfied with the LB play.
So, look at who played last year and is still in camp. Wilson, Takitaki, Phillips, Smith and Lee. Lee is a ST ace. He's staying. The coaches and F.O. love Phillips. He's staying.

Either Wilson or Takitaki is getting cut because they drafted Wu and Fields and signed FA Walker. Fields likely goes to the practice squad if he clears waivers. Side note: Strange how Field's been so injury prone in camp, huh? ;)

Yeah I want both Taki and Wilson to be here. I like them both. But it's going to come down to versatility. DC Woods has made that clear. Wilson is not a LB who can play safety in a pinch. I believe Takitaki is the same. It's going to come down to Woods decision. More importantly will be which guy Priefer likes on ST's because the guy who can be an effective special teamer has an edge.

We know Priefer is highly regarded in this organization. He was chosen to be the interim HC for the playoff win in pit. That has a shit ton of weight my friend. A guy filling in for the HC gets a road playoff win...in pit?! Yeah, he's got some MF'in clout!

It wasnt so much the onfield performance, the problem was we didnt have enough players at LB to take the field.
so much so that we were forced to risk the career of wilson who played injured most of the year
so not so much quality as quantity although you do need good players.you cant bang cleats on nana.its the NFL.
come to think of it though we havent invested much at LB since schobert and collins left.
we were overdue a LB draft.walker is key, need that leader in the middle.

Im really concerned about JOK.perhaps they dont want to throw rooks into the flames right away.
I guess thats smart,at least give them a game or 2 on the sidelines to "take it all in"

one thing Im happy about is delpit appearing as a SS for the 1st time. Its seems the rumours were correct.
If you have seen his workouts hes using heavy weight, hes been bulking up all off season.
thats a relief.I still hope JOK will get snaps at SS though.
afterall thats what a modern NFL SS is.a cross between a LB and a DB.
we are still very thin at SS.JOK might not have a choice If players pull up hurt during the very long (now 17 game) season

Either Wilson or Takitaki is getting cut
I dont see that.lee or smith are more likely to "keep it movin" IMO than those 2

We have invested in LB's like BJ Goodson, Walker, Smith and Tae Davis. The position has not been left out, but more secondary to other critical positions. It's in this FO's philosophy to concentrate on the QB, DE/Edge, CB, LT/RT first and foremost.

The coaches didn't risk Wilson's career. He said he was in a bad place. He wasn't playing to his full potential. That's on him.

Also I think Lee is the only ST ace we have left after Tavierre Thomas left in FA. Unless a new guy steps up. I'm telling ya now to ensure a place on this roster is to play ST's well. That will serve any player well. Just look at Tavierre Thomas. He's making a career out of it.

We are discussing defense like we know what Joe Woods will be putting on the field come week 1. But...do we really know? Funny enough, after one full season I'm not sure we know our DC (at least, I know I don't).

we were forced to risk the career of wilson
we meaning the franchise as a whole (yes including wilson), I never said coaches.the guy played hurt.period.it wasnt a mental problem LOL
but battling through repeated injuries tests anyones mental strength
He said he was in a bad place. He wasn't playing to his full potential. That's on him.
he played injured.when you're injured you cant run.when you cant run you're cardio fails very quickly.
then you have another injury in training or rehab.then you have the pressure from your family the team and the media to return.
the team desperately needs bodies at LB.these things seem trivial from the outside but it all adds up.
how fit do you have to be to play in full pads and helmet in the summer time in the NFL at LB? peak and I mean peak fitness.

the guy is brave enough to admit that mentally it was a struggle and you point to that to blame? thats pretty low hanging fruit for a fan.
I heard a media member say he was a "miss tackles machine"
y'all turned on the guy so fast It'd make your head spin.nobody and I mean nobody seemed willing to give mack another run as starter.
some even said he wasnt a starter in the NFL at all! which means he is the worst LB in the league I guess.
now they say
I think he's a damn good player.
guess what? every athlete who returns from bad injuries has mental struggles.they just dont mention it but they overcome.
just like wilson will overcome and be one of your day 1 starters.
We are discussing defense like we know what Joe Woods will be putting on the field
nah we aint.were discussing (and guessing) what hes planning on doing.what else is there to talk about? we in camp.

I said, "He wasn't playing to his full potential. That's on him."

It's not low hanging fruit except to you. And not every athlete overcomes their injuries.

And when you say "We" were forced to risk the career of Wilson that can only mean the coaches and the FO. Your hind sight is impeccable though.

Now this is good to see.

Baker to Hooper. There were rumblings that they were not connecting earlier.

hes a good TE but somewhat over rated IMO
I think bryant is a pro bowl calibre talent If they just throw him the ball, he could prove it.
njoku looks like tarzan but perhaps has banana skins on his hands instead of gloves?
hooper is overpaid IMO for his output on the field.

Yeah Hooper is very good, but not top dollar good.
To compare Nick Chubb should've been paid top dollar RB money and Hooper more middle to top dollar TE money.
Hooper's contract means we have him for a couple more years too unless we are willing too take a $13,250,000.00 cap hit.

Austin Hooper

What you said and what that means.
WE GODDAMNIT.I SAID WE! an Im not a currently a professional coach employed by the cleveland browns.
If I were you'd be correct. sad fact is Im just a fan, therefore you are incorrect.again.
we were forced to risk the career of wilson
besides I cleared it up by stating
we meaning the franchise as a whole (yes including wilson)
so here I am trying to agree with you that wilson does bare responsibility too.
I guess you wont allow any agreement and so told me thats not what I meant.
you proceed to tell me I meant coaches.
guess what Im thinking now J? smh semantics.. who has time for this sh^t?

JOK looks like a future cornerstone of this D.
hufunga looks like polamalu born again goddamit I knew it!
the jags have robinson, a 1000 yards guy and they draft etienne? what a move?
greedy gave up a big play.gustin looks terrible.day looks a beast at DE.wine? I dunno, woods dont like him.

^^^You tell me. Who has time for this shit?^^^

To state again: What you said and what that means is all.

Not what you're thinking.

back to football.

#22 delpit did not take the field preseason game 1
despite the recent draft our safety room is still the weak link on this team.
unless JOK plays SS but It looks like they may move him around quite a bit
theres a good chance lecounte gets playing time this year

The Browns do have a handful of players dealing with hamstring injuries at the moment, including DE Myles Garrett, S Ronnie Harrison Jr., S Grant Delpit and WR Anthony Schwartz.

I kind of feel that Delpit, Williams, and Wilson are going to find that there aren't any places for subpar players left to hide on the current Browns roster. I'm not holding out much hope for any of the three. It all reminds me of Howard Wilson.

For Delpit we have no idea what kind of par player he is. He hasn't played an NFL game due to his unfortunate ruptured Achilles last year. For me he is the same unknown he was after they drafted him. But he won't be going anywhere soon. They spent a high 2nd round pick on him last year, so he is going to get time.

Williams, he is going to need to be healthy this year, and play decent. Otherwise his clock will be ticking. But unless they got a guy who can play better for cheaper he is likely to see all the way through 2022 season. Costs about 700K in dead cap if they cut him after this season.

Wilson, seems like a good dude. But things are not really in his favor. Can't really cover, not very fast, always dinged up such that it hinders his ability or availability, teams has added guys at his spot, wasn't drafted by this FO, and costs little to cut now or after the season.
