It is a copy cat league so other teams will do the same eventually. For now, they are all going to claim some sort of malfeasance, mistake or wrong doing on the part of the Browns because we're the dumpster fire.

The things they are doing can and will eventually catch up. A lot of these are converting salary to bonus (hence why the cash spend is so high). That lets you spread out the money out over the contract life. But sooner or later you have guys aging/play drop off and you either have them eating the space or have dead money from having to move on. This really isn't new. But AB and company are certainly taking it to new levels. If it is successful as Jay said, it's a copy cat league and other teams will start doing it to this level.

Kenny Pickett is a good, efficient QB. The Steelers have a talented offense around him. Anybody who thinks this Steelers team is going to stink hasn't paid attention to the Steeler organization over the the last....forever.

Pretty sure everyone on this forum wanted Pickens. It was one of those obvious picks that the NFL must have put off limits until the Steelers picked.

I also really liked Pickett. Tiny hands and all. Some of the things coaches were saying about him coming out struck me as special. Had we not landed Watson I would have been pounding the table for him. Hoping the tiny gloved hands come back to haunt him when he gets hit.

Finally a reasonable take. Every single team has a shot at it this year. More than any other conference.

Lamar may have plateaued
Burrow could get injured (he tends to)
Pickett may not be the second coming of his lord and savior
Watson may continue his new-normal from 2022

Of course, every fan base thinks otherwise, but we just don't know.

We flipped the script, although it's really just part of the overreaction of week 1. But, it's nice to be on the winning side of week 1, rather than the justifying and rationalizing side.

I see your Week 1 over-reaction & raise -- the Bills lose to Zach Wilson with Josh Allen looking more like the player everyone thought he was when drafted (ie, wild/inaccurate); Rodgers out for season and the Jets are suddenly led by Zach Wilson again; the Chiefs prove that if you take away Kelce, you can fell them. . .

I'd say the only team standing between the Browns and the Super Bowl is the Dolphins.

Here's my take. Before week 1, a LOT of people liked our roster, but until we won at least a game, it was hard to pick us over the Bengals and Ravens. Then, the Steelers had a sharp preseason, and we dropped to fourth in the division ... but down deep, people still knew we had a good roster. The safest thing to do was to place the Browns last though.

Now, everyone is letting their hunch rise up, and they're giving some respect.

We pounded the Bengals, in the rain, with an average offensive day, and turning the ball over twice in Bengal territory. Still won by 3 TD's.

Oh, and Stefanski called a helluva game. Sure, there are things we all would have done differently, like giving Ford 15 carries when he fumbled the first carry, but hey, it's a marathon and all. No need to drive Chubb into the ground during a slippery week 1 punch in the mouth.
