NFL Draft Shedeur Sanders

The one thing I will say about Sanders is he is a good kid, hardworking and has a good head on his shoulders. That alone is a massive upgrade over Andrew Berry's two pet sex offenders he overpaid for.

If they take him I will be behind the kid and hope he becomes Jalen Hurts 2.0.

As a player though, people can hate me for it but the fact is the kid is one huge question mark. He puts up good stats in a garbage conference full of 7th round/UDFA practice squad type players. He would really, really benefit being able to go somewhere he can sit for a season or two behind a high quality veteran and learn.

The other thing is we are talking about the #2 pick in the draft. Depending on which Draftnik you talk to, it's a toss up between Sanders and Dart on who is #2 behind Ward. I don't want Dart either, I see Brady Quinn 2.0 with Dart but will be cautiously optimistic if he were chosen, the question however needs to be asked: If this draft went differently and as an example, Arch Manning and Drew Allar had declared in this draft .... Where does Sanders land?

4th or possibly 5th QB taken in the draft and a day 2 pick. That's just the facts. Do you take that guy #2 overall? I say you don't. Some disagree.

Lastly, I will spitball on this one a bit here, and give Berry some rare credit if this is the thought process: New York already plugged off their QB position for the next few years and are unlikely to use a 1st on a QB. Abdul Carter is a freaking beast and they need defensive help, badly.

Maybe it is possible this Carter smokescreen by the FO is an attempt to panic New York into swapping picks to land the kid, then take Sanders at #3 and have another pick or two in order to build around Sanders.

If so it would be brilliant.

Based on what I saw last year, Allar isn't very good. Manning is going to be good, for sure, when he comes out in the 2027 draft. Klubnik will be the best QB in the draft next year. If the Browns think Sanders and Dart are pretty equal, then trade down or take Carter and take Dart or Sanders in the 2nd (if the Steelers don't take Sanders). Berry has to get this draft right. Taking Sanders probably gives him a couple of more years. If we pass on Sanders and the Steelers take him and he is really good, Berry is toast.

I'm betting we trade up for Ward or we draft Sanders at #2.

We shall see.

I think Berry and Kevin are toast anyway because I don't see us winning more than 6 games as it stands right now... They just delayed the inevitable..

I have been watching a lot of Allar, the kid is good. If he continues growing this season he will be highly coveted and a beast. Likely QB #2, behind Manning 😉

As to this year, yeah I just don't see the Ward trade happening as much as I really, really want it to happen. If the asking price is that high, that would be insane.

Although, if Berry figures he is gone after next season he might throw a hail mary in the draft and not give a shit. If Ward blows it up he is safe and can build around Ward via FA. If he gets fired it's not his problem at that point.

The pick is probably Sanders. It won't save their jobs, look at Mayfield and our former GM on that one, and they are probably gone anyways if they don't make a deep playoff run.

But look on the bright side, if Sanders plays well enough and shows spark, and Jimmy gets rid of Radio and Lil Kev, there will be some really good GM's and Coaches interested in coaching the kid up so we might get it right this go around. Shit, you are starting to sell me on Sanders a little bit.

...and we're back to a rebuild.
If Jimmy has an ounce of respect left he'd tell this FO/AB to get the best player at #2 if you want to hang around. No fuck ups, walking it back or buffoonery. I expect a HOF'er at #2 and could care less what that player's position is. Get our QB in the draft when it fits.
Do not fuck up this draft.

You guys who think Stefanski's job is at stake couldn't be more wrong. If we fired Stefanski, no decent coach would come here. We'd be back to promoting an OC to his first head coaching job (see Freddie Kitchens).

Kevin is not great. But he's not bad either. If he wasn't all-in on the Watson trade, he's got at least 2 more years, 3 if we draft Sanders or Ward.

Kevin is like a lot of coaches and QBs: he needs a good run game for his offense to cook.

Look what Tampa's resurgent run game did for Baker last season. I am with KOK on taking Judkins if we can. If we do draft a QB, he's going to need him.

TB and PM didn't have great running games...

I am starting to warm up to the idea of Sanders, mainly I can't see how you don't pull the trigger, as much as I would rather they trade back, stockpile picks and tank next season for Allar or (if he declares) Manning.

We can't leverage the next 5 years on one QB, it we NEED a freaking QB. Berry is saying things to say things but I am thinking the pick is going to be Sanders.

I go back and forth with what I think they'll do, but objectively speaking, we're looking like a team getting ready to draft a QB at #2. We've made no moves at QB outside of a minor trade. Myles has said that there was a plan at QB and that he approved. TBH I'm not sure Myles knows who Jaxson Dart is, but I'm sure he's well aware of Shedeur Sanders. And now Andrew Berry has said that the QB Room will "skew young". Fingers crossed.

What I appreciate about Sanders' game is how calculated he is in risk-taking. To maximize Sanders, I hope we bring back Moore and draft another speedy slot. A QB like Sanders works best with YAC exemplars, as you can expect a strong appreciation and good decision-making in the short passing game. That will open things up for Jeudy and Tillman on the outside.
