The info known at the time. That’s why.
I’m two of his last 3 years, he was ranked in the 30’s as a QB, in a league with 32 teams. The crystal ball wasn’t available.
You could knock all teams for the first 5 rounds of the TB12 draft based on what we know today.

Yeah, you love to use his injury year against him. When healthy, other than year number 2, as a Brown, he was the best QB we've had in two decades. From day one, I called this trade as being the worst trade since Herschel Walker. So did Nickers. Almost everyone else on this board welcomed Baker's demise and has made excuses about the worst trade in decades. Information at the time of the trade was that Baker gave everything for this team. And in return, the Browns and a lot of fans have since done nothing but shit on him.

Howard doesn't have a good arm. His deep balls are always late and short. But he is a good kid, and he has improved steadily throughout the season.
I like Indiana's QB. I'd snag him at some point if possible.

But if Cousins is super cheap, he could be a decent placeholder. I don't think anyone will offer him a long term deal. Of the available QBs in the draft, only Sanders or McCord or maybe Howard could possibly be a day one starter. I think Ward would need a little time.

It comes down to IF AB wants to spend the 2nd pick of the draft on either Cam Ward or Sanders. If not, they should think about signing Cousins, Flacco or somebody like those two. Then get a young QB when you can justify taking one that will have some flaws to work out. There's a ton of those guys in this draft.
I'm good with McCord or Howard outside of Rd one and the 33rd pick. It sucks but this looks like a mediocre draft class and in true Browns fashion, we are at the top of this pile of shit.

I think the word on the street is the Falcons want picks and to unload his salary, or at least a significant portion of it.

How does that work against the cap? If we agree to pay part of his salary. If it doesn't hit the cap, Jimmy will write the check.

Sam Darnold is the Answer. I'd fire Stefanski with no hesistation if he can't reproduce KOC's success with him. I'm sorry we can't orchestrate genius moves to bring him an elite, elite QB, but this is the NFL. And Darnold is the best we can do right now. If the system is good, Darnold in Year 2 of his attempted career revitilization should be good enough to get us back in the Dance. And it frees up our #2 to go wherever we feel is BPA.
