The #29 pick is in -- David Njoku.

I think we'll see the box stacked plenty until we show we can beat it and what makes it hard to beat is no QB.

If one of these QB's shows he can beat defenses that stack the box then it'll open things up. But not until then.

Also the RT is going to be tested throughout the season and defenses will overload and stunt on that side until the RT shows he's competent. Njoku will have to chip more than usual.

I suspect a lot of power left and screens to the left type of plays to help alleviate some of that, but that doesn't keep defenses from stacking even still. That just manages the overloading on the right.

...unless a QB emerges.

It's all about reading the defense as you know. I have a hunch on who that guy is and will emerge after some valuable lessons last year. That leaves 3 out in case you're wondering ;)

Chief turns 21 today. This guy looks like a show.

I'm so pumped to see this kid play. I still think he could legitimately be a Pro-Bowler from year one. I envy Hue Jackson - you could have a LOT of fun with a kid like Njoku on the roster.

It was cool seeing him and Coa... Joe Thomas having fun again on Twitter. These rookies have really made a strong impression on our veteran players. Always good to see young guys come in and gel quickly.

Dude is cool as hell. Ready to embrace the greatness.

Well, I am cool as hell (in winter), a badass, and ready to embrace the greatness, too. However, the only jerseys I am wearing is Jim Brown Throwbacks (a Brown one and a White one, but I shoulda went with Otto Graham). When Njoku is my age, he'll be very, VERY lucky to be wearing an Ozzie Newsome Throwback!

Slow news week, which is good, at least we don't have that Zeke drama. Anywho, 3-sigma stuff on Njoku...

Being the first time I've seen any of that stuff (I typically don't go out of my way for it) damn...

I can see why they're hyping this kid to high hell. I hope he helps me forget (in a good way) Kellen Winslow Jr, to date probably my favourite Brown of the reboot era. He would have been Joe Thomas tier if he didn't own a damn motorcycle. Even with two bad knees he went on to have a productive career. I digress, Njoku is in some very nice company as a first round TE draft pick and I hope he can keep the standard strong.

2nd practice in a row with one of these catches. Seems like the youngest player on the team just needed a second....

*Bump*

Scraping around for a little positivity this morning.

Has the Chief arrived? Youngest guy on the team, have to mention his freak athletisism, and has gotten better as the season has progressed.

Just set the team rookie TD record for receptions, with a month yet to play.
Blocking was ranked 6th out of 5-dozen TE's for the month of November.
Then had his best game as a pro vs the Chargers with Bosa and Ingram to block.
Recall, he was a WR his whole life until his sophomore year at the U.

Think it's fair to declare, this was NOT another first round whiff by the Browns, and by moving up and snagging an extra year on his rookie deal, it's likely the best pick/move the current Browns front office has made.

And he has infectious energy. He's going to soon elevate to a leader on the offense.

Calling it. Ladies and gentleman, we have our TE of the future.

(okay, that's a desperate way to put it, but desperate times call for ... etc etc)

Reading the all-22 film was super friendly to Njoku as well. He seemed to embrace the opportunities afforded by the presence of Josh Gordon, who of course, looked like the best player on the field.

Coleman? Weirdly enough, on the all-22, looked disinterested at times, separated less than ever, and of course in the 4thQ, when Kizer had driven the ball 90+ yards, had a lazy holding penalty on the 6-yard line, and dropped a pass in his chest on the 5 yard line on back-to-back plays. 0 catches for 0 yards. Laid an absolute egg.

Rico's play count was 6 vs the Chargers. May have officially moved on from him.

I believe in Coleman. He's really worked on his route running and Zirm showed how many times he was open last Sunday. Did he get frustrated by being ignored on all his curls? I'm thinking maybe. He has a bit of a reputation for being a dick, but then again, so do a ton of great WRs.

I agree with whoever Tweeted it: Gordon, Coleman, and Njoku have a very real opportunity to be one of the best target trios in 2018. From a raw talent and size/speed standpoint, absolutely. Add in Duke Johnson and the argument gets even stronger.

Is it to the point that taking a WR too high might well be a wasted pick, considering those are almost guaranteed to be your top 4 targets? Plus DeValve? I personally think so. I'd seriously look at bringing in Pryor on another prove it deal, maybe 1 year plus a 1 year team option. And I like Anthony Miller a lot at 33 but wouldn't have any problem with the Browns waiting until 40 for Simmie or someone like that. Still expect to find serious contributors that high.

I'm all about Minkah and either Baker or Rosen in R1.
