Browns Stefanski

Random guys on Twitter said stuff......

What they either selectively leave off, aren't bright enough to look beyond what they wanted to find, or just dont understand football as a whole

- This is an offense based on balance. Steffs offense is typically pretty close to 1:1 for pass att to run att.
- offenses that have been top 5 in rush yards.
- in 2023 the offense pass att were 5th highest in the league.
- most years the QBs have been bottom 5 in completion %.
- who the QBs have been. Not only that, who and what they have been inside and outside the offense.
- what current/former players and coaches have said about the offense.

Could be worse. Could have had Josh McDaniels 😉

That wouldn't be worse. Josh McDaniels with the same 5 years Stefanie has had probably gets us multiple trips to the Superbowl. He's never coached a team this loaded. Stefanie was given a gift, and squandered it. But hey, what's another 20 years until a Superbowl, am I right? When it happens, someone tell my kid I'm cheering from Heaven when I'm gone.

Lazy takes. I guess it was Watson dropping all those balls, and causing all those costly penalties. Let's face it, Watson would have looked a shit ton better without Stefanski calling the plays. The penalties would have been down, a healthy OL and Chubb, the quitter traded to Buffalo ....call it karma, call it what you will, but Watson has been cursed of late. I just wonder if he will be able to make it back. So much hatred aimed his way, how people carry burdens like that ...hopefully he comes out on the other side.

When we signed Stefanski, the knock on him was he was good at managing average QBs, but QBs with great talent he could not utilize. Pretty sure that was 100 percent accurate. Nick Wilson is the closest to right.

We could break it down outside of QB play. We could ask how many drops there were in this game? Or how many times did the OLine let a free runner get through among other things?

We all saw it. How many INT's did Jameison throw that b'more flat out dropped, particularly late in the game? If you guys think the offense is fixed. Just hang around for awhile and great for you. I'm hopeful it is too, just not convinced.

The biggest difference now is with Chubb back the defenses have to account for him and adjust accordingly making bigger passing windows to throw into off of PA pass with more of the QB under center.

Yeah. This might be a one off given the dropped INT's. Idk. But we do have Chubb to get things moving when the offense gets bogged down in trickery and being the smartest on the field. That seemed removed Sunday with Dorsey calling plays that the OLine is comfortable with as well as Winston & Chubb.

Whatever it takes to win is good, at this point.

I’m stoked KS is now focused on HC, hope Dorsey is the guy, we’ll have to see. That said, I encourage you to watch the tape with DW. It’s scary how open people are and he’s running out of a clean pocket. It wasn’t good, blame it on what you need too but the tape don’t lie.

... he’s running out of a clean pocket ...
Suuuuuper frustrating for an O-lineman too. The good thing about pocket passers, for the OL, is you know what turf you're protecting.
Jameis was getting the ball out too, aka "the lineman's best friend". Watson has always held the ball for a bit, and then would scramble into the fray.
The receivers have to be elated. The top 4 all got theirs. Tillman, Jeudy, Moore and the Chief.

I could say the same about Watson's tape before he came here. He went into detail about defenses and what he was seeing. Point is I don't think that Watson is to blame for piss poor offensive production. Like a lot of us are saying but each focusing on different players & aspects.

If this works, Stefanski seems to have "held it together" (meaning he didn't lose the locker room) through all of this mess. Winning solves a ton though. Especially at home vs the Ravens, after one of the worst weeks in Browns fandom history.

Seems to me the players don't think Stefanski is "the problem".

Pluto:

9. The evidence is clear. Watson was a significant part of the problem. Meanwhile, a supposedly washed up Flacco … a career backup in Brissett … and another backup in Winston … all have produced in Kevin Stefanski’s offense. Remember, that’s a sample from the last 2 1/2 seasons.

10. I know, the Baltimore game was the first time offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey called the plays this season. But that was Stefanski’s offense, and Stefanski’s plays. Dorsey and Stefanski worked together to assemble a game plan for Winston.

11. Winston said: “At the beginning of the week, we had this change. Our head coach stopped calling plays. Like, why did he do that? Ken Dorsey stepped up. But that just shows great leadership from the top down with Coach Kevin being certain about this decision to change. And Ken showed up, he put in great work, and he did an outstanding job today to lead us.”

12. More Winston: “I’ve been starving for this opportunity (to start) … When you’re able to have a meeting with your head coach, and he’s certain of what he wants to do … That instills confidence in you. That confidence exuberates throughout the building. You’re able to implement that in every single situation … every single conversation that you have with the men that you’re fighting with.”
