The #1 pick is in -- Myles Garrett

I just have no patience for assholes who take the volunteers here to task publicly.

If people want to be real, they can be, and will no doubt have much higher rate of accuracy.

The fact is, anyone who isn't concerned when their first round pick hasn't been 100% in a year due to multiple injuries on the same foot is delusional, or outright stupid

We all hope it isn't a regular thing and Garrett can begin dominating NFL caliber talent for the first time in his career, because otherwise we all suffer some more.

A walking boot takes pressure off the foot which allows for faster healing. It makes sense to wear one when it can help him get back to 100% earlier - especially given camp is like 6 weeks away. Every day counts.

More encouraging - the news he's in a moonboot came when he was spotted at the airport, and the photo of him says it was taken at the airport. In his final media presser, he said between OTAs and camp he was planning to go back to college station to work with some of his coaches there to make sure he's in top shape for camp. The fact he was seen at the airport suggests he's still going.

That's a positive thing given he wouldn't be leaving Cleveland if his injury was anything to worry about.

As has been reported, he's fine. The coaches don't seem stressed either. A moon boot isn't really ominous.

When you are in a boot, it's not "minor". I won't speculate on if he would or would not leave Cleveland based on severity. It was bad enough to get him excused from attending the youth clinic.

I think that first guy was already insane before he started smokin'. For fuck's sake he was way beyond "tasty waves and cool buds".

It is a Lisfranc.

To the same foot that's been bugging him for two years now.

"Lateral foot sprain" and a Lisfranc (aka a "forefoot sprain" or worse, dislocation) are definitely NOT the same thing.

Totally different injury, treatment plan, and recovery time.

I'm sure. 100%. I was an athletic trainer in my young 20's, went to med school, and am an FP and sports med doc. I was wrapping ankles and doing sports injuries at (Brady Quinn's alma matter) Dublin Coffman today for 7-on-7's.

It is possible that they're plain lying about the location to avoid the dreaded word Lisfranc. So assuming they're accurately portraying everything, a lateral foot sprain is no big deal and the mid-foot Lisfranc is a big deal.

Now, as far as him having a high ankle sprain last year, a sore foot in May, and now this in June - even if they're all different injuries, I get Gabe's thought that the injury history is concerning.

Corey and Myles need to get healthy. Both of their injury histories of late concern all of us, I'd bet.

It's an injury to the tarsometatarsal area.

The word lateral is the key. There's nothing lateral about a Lisfranc.

So, a foot sprain and he's going to be fine for camp. That's from doctor, team, coaches, team mates and media - so probably best to keep speculating that Myles has suffered a career ender and will never be healthy because of, I don't know, a mild foot sprain.

Are we going to stop pretending his lower body was amputated yet or is he still on the trading block?

I won't joke, however. I know how disappointing this is for some of ya'll that a Cleveland Brown isn't seriously injured. With any luck, he'll die before camp. Go Bears!

My fav thing about this pic floating around of Garrett is that there are no crutches seen. The #1 overall pick should be over-treated, & the fact that he's being allowed to bear weight on the injury is another good sign.

Thank you, but I'm not clear on what ligament is sprained in a lateral foot sprain. The Lisfranc is the top of the foot ligament connecting the metatarsal to the tarsus. What does the lateral foot sprain refer to? Thanks again.

We don't really know which ligament since they aren't releasing those details, but anatomically on the foot, the more medial the injury, the worse. The more lateral, the better.

Just like,

... if you break the big toe (and even worse, if it doesn't heal straight), that's bad.
... if you break the 5th toe (even if it heals crooked), then that's not a big deal.

All has to do with the toe-off phase of walking and running. The medial, or big-toe connected part of the foot, is the most important. For every notch you move laterally, the better. "Lateral foot sprain" implies they're referencing the entire foot as a whole. Add that they're saying he should be ready for next month, it further implies it's very lateral vs somewhat lateral, and surely not medial.

I agree we're all guessing a bit, but you can't sugarcoat a Lisfranc and estimate a player will be back soon.

Having said that, there's always a chance of "further evaluation has revealed" come July... ;)

If that happens, you owe me a big fat "I told you so". Ha.
