It’s all a big conspiracy and kennel still calling this a hoax?
Our government never tells us the hard truth, they give
you people or articles to keep us fighting amongst one
another.
This has just been one big clusterfuck of a response and
by the time it dies down we’re going to be in Hurricane
season, the perfect storm.
This is just sad.

What that has been done is just a soft version of Martial law. for us that have stayed home the past month (as asked). what's the difference ?

Setting politics aside I doubt impeachment is on the table
as citizens IF spoken to properly would all agree that our
lives and the lives of our families are more important than
assholes looting stores for sanitizer and toilet paper,I’m
climbing the walls myself but I am respecting the Quarantine
until we get an all clear ,not a BS the curve is trending downwards
so let’s all get back to work- ALL CLEAR is the answer.

Well, okay. Yes, the voluntary compliance and support by the states was, as you say, effectively a soft version of Martial Law. So what is the difference? The difference is that it is politically acceptable and possible to maintain for a time. The time is limited however, and 6 weeks may be about the extent of acceptability for the people. Fortunately, our testing capability is now proceeding such that in the next 2 week, we should be able to start the process of the reopening. To reopen with the lack of a vaccine, we must have a very good testing capability. The Abbott test will, by then, give us the capability to test, contract trace and isolate as needed to limit the exposure to the virus.

Without that capability, reopening will not work. Since the testing capability would not have happened any sooner than it has, had we started the mitigation earlier, we would have simply had a longer period of mitigation. Therefore what you have suggested would have resulted in a ten week period of compulsory mitigation before reopening instead of a six week period of voluntary mitigation. I think your suggestion would have resulted in a national revolt.

He did not have a model that convinced Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx until two days before following their recommendation for a 15 day period of mitigation and then subsequently followed their recommendation for a 30 day extension.

Without a model that was persuasive for Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx, how was he going to find a model to convince Republicans or Democrats in the House and Senate? Doing what you suggest would have been political suicide.
 
By the way, Mad, you may recall that Trump considered the possibility of mandatory quarantine of travelers from New York to other states, but decided against it after Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx both recommended against it as counter productive and Governor Cuomo called it unconstitutional.

You have to be at least a little realistic.
 
Right now it’s really up to science.
If a viable vaccine is proven to be effective
we may not be that far off, if we can atleast
get this to the level of a mild flu that’s all it would take.
until then it’s not a trivial matter and I’m sure this
will not be the last time we have to deal with this.

Hospitals ARE COUNTING ANY RANDOM DEATHS TO THE NUMBERS WITHOUT CONFIRMED TESTS TO PROVE IT.

Kennel....sorry, but if the COVID virus is not assigned (and they need a confirmed test to assign it), then the death is NOT being assigned to COVID. This is at the heart of what I do, and I can tell you, if a death is assigned to COVID, it was DUE TO COVID.

Now, that doesn't mean the numbers are correct. In fact, there are probably quite a few deaths due to COVID that were NOT counted due to lack of testing and lack of symptoms that would have prompted testing.

Going to the martial law. It is very difficult to declare on the national level, even at the state level. It was not going to pass.

Current state...I highly recommend you all go to the website I provided before:

Then go to the graphs and click Logarithmic...it will show you the CORRECT curve...and you will see this has leveled off.

Also, look at the New Cases and New Deaths charts...they both show a reduction for the past week or so.

The treatments are taking effect, the social distancing has done it's job, and the medical/scientific community are coming up with potential vaccines. By the time this makes it's rounds next time, it will be the flu part deux.

Remember when Cuomo said he needed 40,000 ventilators and Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx looked at the data and told Trump he didn't need that many and Trump told the press that the ventilator already suppled would be enough and Cuomo retorted by asking who would "pick the 26,000 people who are going to die" because of the lack of ventilators? Remember also that Cuomo then subsequently had to explain why he was not using the ventilators he already had in the New York stockpile which was supplied by the Feds?

And you don't think Cuomo overreacts?

And, by the way, when posting new numbers, perhaps you might also consider posting the number of new cases and how they are showing signs of leveling off and decreasing in recent days. In the past four days the number of new cases in New York has dropped from 10,854 to 6,240 yesterday. The daily totals for new cases in New York for the past four days has been, 10,854; 8,776; 8,271 and 6,240.

Concurrently, in the last four days, New York has performed 60,472 tests for the coronavirus. Yesterday, they performed 16,756 tests. Therefore, while it appears that the number of tests per day in New York is increasing, the number of new cases of the virus is decreasing.

You don't think that is encouraging?
 
I think we will take caution while reopening as many things as possible without exposing mass crowds.

We need to open the economy sooner than later. And definitely no later than May 1.

Fact of life is people die everyday. Please don’t think we can save everyone from the virus, but understand its part of world we live in and have been living in.

Go back to work!! Get off your asses and demand to go back!! Do not hand over your freedom cause your scared!!

Fear is not going to pay bills.. Stay safe, wash your hands and show some GD common sense.

Mad, after rummaging around that there publication you linked, I can see now why you didn't think much of my conspiracy theory that I was so proud of. I guess I must have been hiding under a rock or something, but that article alone had at least three conflicting conspiracy theories that were all far better than what I thought was pretty good, not to mention all the other crap in that august publication. Cheers.

When in a Lifetime ? or ever ?

I will argue that because it was not used now in these times, in the future it will be looked upon as the biggest mistake made in this pandemic. not that a Gov will ever admit a mistake. but others will not carry water for them. for loss of life... Vietnam,Iraqi etc

Governors had to react to the information they were
given and the numbers early on were quite concerning
So no Cuomo didn’t over react at all and luckily the
numbers at this point don’t seem that they will reach
the numbers projected, having said that Cuomo has
had to deal with a death toll higher than S.Korea and
field questions from family members about why there
family member died and the mass panic this epidemic
caused his constituents.
Of course new numbers are encouraging and since I’m
in a high concentration zone I’m cautiously optimistic
Do you think I have an agenda where I want death
rates higher?
This has been a new dawn in our nations history
and caught everyone off guard and emotions are
high and answers are few,so let’s remember this
isn’t political but concerns everyone.
