The " Book It " thread!

Hey DF in all due respect, your state and or institution may be counting correctly, I know some at least are as I've continued asking around to those in the actual know.
My niece works in a Arizona hospital and she said what you say, however reports directly from Maryland and Washington states are much different.

I think we will take caution while reopening as many things as possible without exposing mass crowds.

We need to open the economy sooner than later. And definitely no later than May 1.

Fact of life is people die everyday. Please don’t think we can save everyone from the virus, but understand its part of world we live in and have been living in.

Go back to work!! Get off your asses and demand to go back!! Do not hand over your freedom cause your scared!!

Fear is not going to pay bills.. Stay safe, wash your hands and show some GD common sense.

Stay off social media too:)

Very well stated, no fear but be a clean human.

I have a hard time believing that.

Reason? All the stats are based off of a thing called ICD-10-CM codes. They were developed by the WHO and used by the US for billing and reporting purposes. The people who assign/report these codes are called coders...and they are credentialed professionals...and let me tell you that they are among the most anal retentive people you could ever meet. They get upset by being one digit off, much less be willing to assign a code for a diagnosis that has not been confirmed by the physician.

So...for this to be systemically reported wrong across a region, you would either have to have a systemic problem with doctors documenting the wrong diagnosis, or coders suddenly deciding they are going to assign a code that was not documented.

Sorry, but I don't believe it.

Now...early on before the coding got updated (early March), there were some errors. But that was very short term, and was not intentional in any way. They even created a NEW set of codes to report COVID.

Sorry, I just can't buy it.

Ok DF. I respect your position.
I'm still optimistic based off what was literally shouted in my face.
I believe it's a thing to be concerned about but definitely over driven by (who) and especially media.
People die all the time. Sucks but it's reality.

Your trying to make a point which regardless of it truth is just a small part right now.m

Today’s presser with Trump was pretty realistic.

Regardless of what just went down the past few
Weeks
We
Need to open the country in a smart way

Quickly
Yes, but every state will be looking for footage for re-election

Trump is counting on that

ONCE we OPEN UP OUR GREAT COUNTRY, and it will be
sooner rather than later, the horror of the Invisible Enemy,
except for those who sadly lost a family member or a friend,
must be quickly forgotten. Our Economy will Boom, perhaps
like never before!!!

I wish I could LOL

I don’t believe the numbers given on that site are close to being up to date. According to the site, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the USA is 9,681 whereas the number reported at:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

is currently 27,549 which contains a number almost three times as much.

The disparity is explained by the following statement in the CDC site:

*Data during this period are incomplete because of the lag in time between when the death occurred and when the death certificate is completed, submitted to NCHS and processed for reporting purposes. This delay can range from 1 week to 8 weeks or more, depending on the jurisdiction, age, and cause of death.

Which apparently explains the disparity. Your site requires the processing of a death certificate whereas the Worldometer site attempts to collect the data contemporaneously. The CDC site does have the virtue of comparison with data from Pneumonia and Influenza and breaks down the deaths by age, but it is so incomplete now as to being useless at this time.

Perhaps a month after the season is over--maybe in July or August--we can look at the data and see more up to date totals.

My point of the CDC post was someone said covid19 is killing young people.
Numbers clearly state 25 years old and younger
Covid19 has taken less than 10
Phenomenon has taken nearly 200
In the same timeframes

Wanna complain about something taking young lives look elsewhere.
This is taking the very elderly whom are quite brutally honest are on deaths doorsteps anyhow.
And yes both my parents are alive in their 80s so it's a concern but 97% of the world shouldn't have to stop.

I think I am in the middle ground here.

I believe we need to get back to work before MILLIONS of people lose everything they have worked for. It is just a matter of time before people start losing their homes, cars, destroying their credit, and finding themselves in a hole it will take 7-10 years to dig their way out of...if they ever do.

However, no life should be discounted. I know some pretty amazing and vital people over the age of 70. They deserve to have every opportunity to see their lives through to it's natural conclusion...and not at the hands of ANY preventable viral disease (including the flu).

I think we need to make sensible changes to the current restrictions. Mostly, we need to continue to emphasize spacing, staying at home when sick or in doubt, and the elderly need to be smart in how they themselves reintroduce themselves to the public. But we DO need to get back to work...sooner the better.

Obviously, where you live and the level of infection in that area also plays a role. If I lived in NY, I would NOT be pushing for the restrictions to be lifted...but here in SW Florida...sure, why not?

No one size fits all solutions exist.

DF,
I agree with you but it would be nice that IF you have
to return to work you should be tested by your employer
before you get to a desk, shop floor, etc etc.
You could even make it fifty fifty employee employer paid
for.
The new saliva test takes three days so plan ahead before
reopening, Id agree with that.

Kennel, stop with the old people BS and keep in mind
Just because you think your immortal doesn’t make it
