The " Book It " thread!

Like I said before, I do not support the use of guns as part of civil protests. But I certainly support civil protests. This is a constitutionally protected right of citizenship. And if you don't care about constitutionally protected rights, I do. And seriously, Dan, are you proposing murder by the state?

Cliff,
If anyone steps onto federal grounds with an AR-15 as part of a mob of drunken
Hillbillies,OPEN FIRE!!!
Permit sanctioned protests, have at it, from the tiki torch brigade
to women burning bras or whatever, that is protected free speech.
Carrying an automatic weapon into a States Capitol isn’t a lawful
act.

Mad, I really don't see a reason for the extreme caution. I understand that if Las Vegas was open,

Like I said I'm not out every day. but from what I did see we are near 50% open. foot traffic @ 100%.

The way I look at it everyone has the virus. because no one can prove they don't.

As far as me being cautious. if I could I'd wear a full hazmat outfit.

The number of deaths from the coronavirus in Nevada from 4-10-2020 to 5-2-2020 are as follows:

We know there are many more people who got this virus than the numbers say. even the death numbers are under counted or over counted. take your pick.

You know why I support these people going armed to these protests ?
Kent State
I remember what happens when unarmed protesters run into a armed Gov.
And seriously, Dan, are you proposing murder by the state?
Well you got the answer. ................unbelievable.

This is not 1970 or Kent State.
Year after year we keep having these mass shootings
and your going to say walking into a state Capitol or
any federal building with an automatic rifle should be
seen as a nice guy just expressing an opinion?
Yeah, that’s unbelievable alright.

I wear an N95 mask any time I go to the grocery store or take a drive to get some takeout food from Braum's, Taco Bell, or Charlie' Chicken (those are my main haunts these days :)). I also wear a mask when mowing my lawn, but that is because of my allergies. On the other hand, I am no longer isolating myself from my family. I understand the relative risk, have calculated the odds, and decided that in my case and my locality the risk is acceptable.

We know there are many more people who got this virus than the numbers say. even the death numbers are under counted or over counted. take your pick.

Well, of course, I am aware that the numbers of active cases do not represent the number of people that one might expect to meet with in our daily lives. Those people are in hospitals or otherwise isolated from the public. However, I think the number of active cases probably gives a relative indication of the number of people with the disease that have not yet been identified as having the disease.

So, basically, assume twice the number and then assume half of those are isolated. Probably as good a guess as any.

You brave.

Do you wear the mask driving in your car/truck ?

Too many issues with take out food for me. but I'm working on getting 1 item we miss.

You are brave eating Taco Bell even in 2019. enough said lol

Would go with 4x 5x active cases.

Can't imagine why. I see my truck as an extension of the "inside" they tell me I am supposed to go.

Funny! I prefer El Chico, but sit-downs are not available just now.

Like I said

I tend to suspect that that is the case when the number of reported cases are increasing, but after the new cases reach a plateau, the total reported and unreported is probably closer to the same. In order for the number of reported new cases to remain at a plateau, I think the number of unreported cases that eventually become the reported cases must also remain constant.

This assumes that unreported cases typically become reported cases. And, if that is not the case, we are probably looking at less virulent forms of the virus that are less likely to cause significant harm to humans.

Neglecting asymptomatic forms, I tend to think that when the total is less than double, the new cases reported will start to decrease. Or depending on the degree of contact tracing and testing, the new cases may remain at the plateau for at time but the deaths will start decreasing.

El Chico

Haven't. so far. but thought about it.
I definitely don't ..."see my truck as an extension of the "inside". lack of control. lol

Okay, I see now why you asked. I was referring to putting it on when I get to the takeout window.

No. That one closed. Checked the score for the one in Tulsa and might reconsider that too. Never much worried about that before. Maybe I should. Might switch to Abuelo's. Can't handle authentic.

Over time less virulent forms of the virus tend to become more prevalent because the have a greater chance of being passed from one person to another. More virulent forms are more likely to be quickly isolated and prevented from spreading.

Who do you blame ?

All the ass hats in Washington. No one is exempt on it. The orange one at the top is the QB so he gets most of the glory and blame. The CDC is also not without blame. It seems everyone tiptoes around Trump in fear and no one...no one took clear action early enough and still no one in Washington is stepping up.

You know why I support these people going armed to these protests ?
Kent State

I have to disagree. It was for intimidation and sensationalism, nothing more. They made a media splash with that stunt. I'm sure it pleased some in Washington and that was the purpose.

Kent State is a footnote in history at this point. I don't think a protest on a college campus can be compared to storming a capitol building. I doubt most under the age of 50 even really know that event or the Weather Underground for that matter.

The Alt-Right have a system of behavior and this was completely in line with the way they conduct themselves. The Alt-Right is a rebranding of the Neo-Nazi movement. And if I was on the conservative right I'd ask them to re-brand again.

Money Money Money Money

Okay, I see now why you asked.
Nope not at all.
I was referring to putting it on when I get to the takeout window.
I've got the idea of never getting to the face to face at ....open takeout window. telling them to just drop it into the box in the bed of my truck. at the speaker and/or online. would have to pay online or leave cash under the rock(s) in the box. too much wind here to trust the rolled up window to hold my old cash. I've never had the same cash in my pocket this long. (from March) LOL

Just got back from Taco Bell. Noticed the girl was wearing a face covering when she leaned out to hand the order to the person in the car in front of me so I didn't bother to put mine on.

I think you worry too much.

Amazing how the entire workforce of Cleveland including building trades, truckers, grocery store workers etc haven’t become infested.

Wash your hands and stay home if
Your sick. Common sense .

Just what if the personal changed and all of a sudden it was a guy with no mask 3 feet from your face ?

Taco Bell. quit being real food in the mid 1980s when I quit eating it..lol yep it changed

I think you worry too much.

Cleveland
I lived on the near westside of Cleveland most of my first 47 years. beaten unconscious left for maybe death at 9 years old. awoke 5-6 hours later unable to see crawled home 1/2 a mile away. held up at gun point while at work a few times. just to recall a few moments in time, there are a hand full more. escaping troubles with Gods help and the skills he has given me.

So like the 9 lives of a cat kinda short on them I figure at this point. so I pray daily for this virus to leave us. but so far it's my God given skills

I didn't know Bill Maher could make so much sense. Hard to believe he is still a liberal.

Would you blame Obama............. be honest.

Can't blame a POTUS for a pandemic even if it was a Clinton. well wait a minute I could push some blame on Nixon & Clinton for their China deals. but I meander

Most of the blame I put on Fauci.(I call him Colonel Klink) he's talked about this stuff for....ever. his job for decades was to be prepare before hand, now during.
Dislike surgeon general Jerome Adams ( I call him Sergeant Schultz )because he's the worst liar I've ever heard. his position on masks from the start was dishonest and cost Lives.

My bet is you in times past thought law enforcement was too hard on black people. shockingly you at times would find me agreeing with you. I support $$ law enforcement but there are always a few who might escalate things. so what you call intimidation. I call equalization.

I would mention that the effort to flattening the curve to avoid overwhelming the medical system and the hospitals was a useful thing to do. It kept to a minimum the body bags and mass graves, some of which we nevertheless witnessed in New York. It also gave us some time to begin, at least, the process of developing therapeutics and vaccines to reduce the risk to the most vulnerable among us. But the bottom line is that the way to get back to normal is to rely on our immune systems. And as Mr. Maher said, "What is the point of life if you can't live it?"

In a way, he is a lot like Trump. He is vulgar as hell and just as entertaining. It is easy to forgive him his pillow joke and his immigration joke that he tosses in so effortlessly. Probably someone should tell him that those are whole other things. But what the heck, he gets a lot of things right.
